Semi-fit drunken slob here. How can you people walk around in public listening to music?

It goes against the Art Of War. How can you concentrate on what you're doing? Oh, nevermind...

I don't have a portable system but plan to put one together for a planned trip overseas. Absolutely needed for the long flight.

Etys: I don't know which one yet.
pcdp: Pana 570?
JMT/Altoids: I don't know what you call it, but it's a JMT to me...

Pigmode:

I am building pretty much the same set-up as yourself. I have bought the pana 570 and I am quite pleased with it soundwise (though I don't understand why after it's been turned on it randomly selects a song from the disc, even when it is on resume mode), though I have only an old pair of Sony headphones to listen to it. The Ety 6's should arrive Monday; I and about a MILLION others on this board will be giving our impressions of the new babies.

I use mine for walking to work. L.A. city streets can get noisy, and in order to hear anything I have to turn the music up loud. Trouble is, I am beginning to lose some high-frequency hearing from this practice, so I am buying the budget Ety cans for the sound isolation, and as a bonus, I can use them on my trip to Amsterdam in March.

My budget will not allow even a DIY amp (since I don't have the skill to build one myself) so I will have to be content with the pcdp and Ety's for now.

Whoa, I should be going to Amsterdam instead of Japan. Oh well, next year...

I'll be testing the Ety 6 next week before I send it away (it's a gift). I hope it's good enough because I don't want to have to buy the 4.

Jan Meier should make a larger Porta-Corda, calling it the SortaPorta-Corda. A less expensive version- AffordaSortaPorta-Corda.. adding the low profile option gets you a ShortaSortaAffordaPorta-Corda(special Orda.) Ok, I'm done now.

LOL!!!

Real mastery and concentration are effortless. Clearly, you have not snatched the pebble from my hand and are not yet ready to go.

A Sony MZ-R55 (or MZ-E75)
Ety ER-4P (with a 4S cable c/o Mr. Pumphrey)
An Airhead (soon to be replaced by a JMT-built CHA47 that my wife grabbed, wrapped and put under the tree before I even had a chance to look at!

)

I'll post a picture when my system is properly assembled with the new amp.

Sharp MD-MT80 and the earbuds that came with it (Senn MX500)

cheap unit, but top quality! looks better than the '90 IMO. no use for a remote anyway, don't need to touch buttons while on the go, just swap discs.

it's just kickass.
