What Are You Listening To Right Now?

Franz Schubert Symphony No. 2
The Chamber Orchestra of Europe conducted by Claudio Abbado

I have this complete Schubert symphony cycle by Abbado and the C.O. of E. and I love it.

Most of my listening is from the impressionist period in music which comes a lot later than Schubert of course, but I also like very much to go to the classical period.

This second symphony of Schubert's is so clever and fun. It is one of those pieces where you find yourself laughing at the ingenuity of it. He plays so many games.

But it is also much more than that. Schubert is great at taking you to states which you sort of didn't really know existed, he presses buttons you didn't know you have.
