Dave Douglas & Keystone - Live @ The Jazz Standard (the first BBC set).

One of the great bargains in music, if you're a jazz head, is *subscribing* to DD. He regularly puts up entire sets and unreleased tracks in flac format. Jim, the webmaster, is responsible for the excellent site, and is a very cool human being. Highly recommended.

'Sands' - Steve Lacy

One of my (many) oddities is an abiding interest in the music musicians record toward the end of their lives, after the pipes are shot, the breath is going, the hands shake. You can't get over by showing off, even a little, so you have to 'play yourself.'

Anyway, this is one of those albums. Lacy played the soprano sax, a hard beast to ride, and this particular album is just him and the instrument and his tunes.

I'm listening on a pair of Grado SR60is, fed from a MusicStreamer II to a cMoy amp from the guy on ebay who builds the original, nice 'bass booster.' There's nothing seriously audiophile about it, but I don't care. It sounds fine.
