Healer - Chromatics

After months of ownership and too few listens, this disc finally clicked for me while in the car last week. The kids are calling this Italo Disco which must mean downtempo disco because that's what it sounds like to me, disco through a post punk filter - dark and lean; absolutely infectious. I'm loving this.

Hooray for Mark Knopfler!

I've got "Souvenirs d'un autre monde" by Alcest... my housemate introduced me to them as a step beyond Tool in the metal direction, and I enjoy the "wall of huge guitar" sound meshed with quiet melodic fiddlings and dreamlike Francophone vocals...

i listen to the same 5 CDs all the time. :/ i know what you're thinking. she's too good looking to have any real talent. i thought the same thing at first. but she is so good. i love her voice - soft, soothing, sultry - and this album.

on one song, she sings:

And I said hey boy
Whatchya cryin' for
It'll be OK in the end
And if this life doesn't give you the love you expect
There's always the next.
