Headphoneus Supremus
Just started my listening for today and I am going with three hours and eight minutes of assorted Genesis:
RCBinTN
Headphoneus Supremus
The genius of Victor Wooten. He was once asked in an interview what makes The Flecktones so great.
His answer: "I don't know, I'm just the bass player. This was whilst walking
into the Berklee College of Music to teach his summer bass program.
The genius of Howard Levy on the harmonica.
Hippo power! Shows off the awesome low-register capability of the HD800 cans.
The Flecktones' take on the Lennon-McCartney song.
Funky snarkiness.
Quite nifty stuff right there. Pick the genre ... good luck.
Bela Fleck formed The Flecktones after hanging up his alternative bluegrass
hat with New Grass Revival. These are their first three studio albums 1990-92.
Bela did retain some alt bluegrass and added many other genres to his gig ...
jazz, rock, funk, classical, and world. The musicians here are Bela - banjo,
Victor Wooten - bass, Howard Levy - keys / harp, and Future Man - madness.
Some final comments. I'd only listened to The Flecktones live albums up to now -
a mistake. Their studio work is exceptional. And too, the reviewers gave the 3rd
album the lowest score, because the music had no new surprises. Well, to me,
it's the best album here. Listen to all three, if you can, and decide for yourselves.
Cheers, mates! HD800 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>
