very different creative energies, but wonderful none the less.  Been a fan of Becks since the video of I'm a loser with the casket moving through the landscape even though I'm an old guy, and Simpson is a superb  acoustic player of anything with strings that you can strap around your neck.  Maybe little known in the US, but it deserves to be different, although I don't think he is much concerned about such things.

Robert Gordon wIth Link Wray -

Double Cd set comprised of two original LP's, Robert Gordon with Link Wray and Fresh Fish Special.

Excellent pairing of Gordon's perfect rock and roll voice with guitar great and innovator Link Wray.

His 1958 hit Rumble virtually invented the "Power Chord" which is of course the basic element of so much Rock that follows through to today. His influence on guitar legends includes Jimmy Page and Peter Townsend who credited Wray with his deciding to play guitar. If not familiar with Rumble check out the link below:

Better yet here is Jimmy Page enjoying and talking about Rumble, some footage of Wray playing it is included.

Enjoy......

Ya gotta like an album that opens with "Handcuffed to a Fence in Mississippi."  This may have been the first record from David Byrne's used-to-be label, Luaka Bop, that had any sort of country feel to it and if it is country, then it's to country music as the Talking Heads were to rocknroll.
