'The Dreaming' was my all-time favorite album from when I first heard it in 1984 (I was a bit behind) till it was replaced in that exalted position in 2018. Still totally love it, of course....

For me, Bush goes back to when I was a small child. Of course then, here in the US, I only heard "Running Up That Hill" and a few other singles on the radio. My sister and I used to call her the "dog lady" lol as we thought some snyths in "Running Up That Hill" sounded like dogs barking or whining, and with some vocals on the track "Hounds of Love" (one of my favorites) she mimics dog barking, and because of the cover of that album (which I think my uncle had).

I liked her music as a child, but found it kind of odd. That hasn't changed lol. Some I still can't quite grasp, like that album. I still need more listens (I'd say I've listened to it about 5 times) to really get to know it. The more I listen to her material, the more it grows on me. That's been the case with much of my favorite music (including just about every Rush album): I "get it" and like it on some level on the first listen, but it really takes 5-10 listens for me to really understand what the artist/group was going for and like or love the material (if I'm going to).

I rediscovered Bush when I started going through half forgotten and totally missed 80's music 10-15 years ago (which I'm still digging into!) and her "50 Words for Snow" album came out (a favorite).

Nice collection there, I don't have any of them but know the artists.

I bought the one album I have and never bought anything else after. Apparently, it wasn't my thing back then. Haven't heard anything by him since.

I'm not a huge fan; he's a sideman on many jazz albums I have however.

I'll only chase after the audiophile edition of CDs if it's a favorite album (too costly to own everything). Or of course if I don't have something I'm looking for or is interested in, I'll look for the premium CD first and go from there. I've been collecting audiophile CDS for years, so this is nothing new to me. Even have some audiophile vinyl before CDs were a thing. These are just some of what I have...

There is no way I'm going to own several different versions of every album in my collection, especially as the default Redbook CD is often just fine, or at least good enough, especially as hundreds (thousands even) albums in my collection are those that I'm not going to listen to often (like once every few years).

However, I literally have hundreds of favorite albums across genres, so I do have a lot of multiple copies of a lot of albums, and I've tried a lot more and then sold the ones that I don't like as much back (though I rip all my CDs to FLAC, I like to keep the hard copies--the CD's--in case I ever need to rerip and just because I like to have those old cases for nostalgia reasons lol).

Anyway, going back to the Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, and Paco DeLuca albums, have you heard those? Great listen on my Senns HD800S phones

I've got some albums by Di Meola and McLaughlin individually floating around in my collection, many albums with them as sidemen, and the album "Passion, Grace and Fire" by all three of the above.

I should have made myself clear, once I have an audiophile edition of a title I don't go chasing after others. Bitches Brew is the lone exception, and that happened for other reasons, not because I was chasing better.

And, just as you, I've hundreds of favorite albums across many genres, so trying to replace every CD there with an audiophile edition would be a cost, I'm simply not willing to incur. Add that I've some standard Redbook recordings that are already good in their own right so no need to replace them.
