Clifford Brown and Max Roach - Study in Brown

IMO Brown was the greatest trumpeter in all of jazz.

Charlie Parker - A Studio Chronicle 1940 - 1948

CharlieParker_JSP.jpg

Disc 1. Simply breathtaking! This 5 CD boxed set from JSP has been my on wish list for
a few years but for one reason or another I never got around to buying it. Then it
went out of print. I was upset with myself for not making this a priority. It took me a
while but I was finally able to locate a set for a price I was willing to pay. The
sound quality is truly remarkable given the time period. A few tracks were made from
worn 78s, but the vast majority of this music really sounds great. If you're
a Charlie Parker fan and don't have this set then you owe it to yourself to get it,
even if it means paying two to three times its original retail price. It absolutely
is worth it!

Rock steady...An incredible debut album by a supergroup; Paul Rodgers (vocals, guitar, piano) & Simon Kirke (drums), both from Free, Mick Ralphs (lead guitar) from Mott the Hoople & Boz Burrell (bass) from King Crimson. So it shouldn't be a surprise that the album reached #1 on the charts 1974.
