Thanks for the heads up. Tony Allen is one of my favorite drummers ... check out his album "Lagos No Shaking."
"Without Tony Allen, there would be no AfroBeat music" - I believe that's a quote attributed to Fela Kuti.

I haven't heard the Duke's take on that number. Thanks! I'll give it a listen when I can.

Loved XTC - I was fortunate enough to see them a couple of times in San Francisco before Andy had to quit touring due to stage fright issues....

Reminds me of 'America Drinks and Goes Home' off Zappa's 'Absolutely Free' - "I wanna hear Caravan with a drum sola!"Caravan is still the king of all drum tracks. My gawd...

A spectacular mix, from start to finish - I class this as up there with the many legendary mixes from the 90s, even though this came years later. He really was a master in terms of track selection and mixing, always fantastic set progression. And indeed a legendary producer and remixer - such a huge loss when he passed away.
In terms of other mixes from the 21st century, have you heard any of the Balance series? Some absolute gems in there too, especially those by Henry Saiz.
Yes indeed, R.I.P. Andrew Weatherall.A spectacular mix, from start to finish
The Balance Series is top quality. I'm especially fond of
- Balance 005 - James Holden
- Balance 008 - Desyn Masiello
- Balance 018 - Nick Warren
- Balance 019 - Henry Saiz
- Balance 020 - Deetron
- Balance 025 - Danny Tenaglia, what a pumping roller coaster ride. I guess it's the hardest mix in style of Danny edging on pure Techno. but also the best, imo.

Oh I don't have 008 from your top list, I'll have to track that down. I don't think I've Tenaglia, I certainly have mixes on other series such as Global Underground but not sure on this, another to check so!

The Saiz mixes really remind me of early 90s Sasha mixes, absolutely top notch stuff.
While on the subject of mixes, if I had to choose a favourite - I'd probably say X-Mix 3, the first half with Aquaviva - stunning, and fantastic memories of that time in the 90s... I must have heard it 100s of times - at home, on my Walkman, at parties etc. Many more of course, but a special mention for that.
