Westone ES3X Appreciation Thread

When my Sensaphonics 2X-S drivers failed the first time, I had longer ear canals on the IEM's than the replacement pair I got. Isolation was better, but SQ was totally unchanged.

That was my observation with a longer canal tip on that particular IEM, which leads me to believe it has no effect.

Was the isolation better with the long or short tips? Would others weigh in with their opinions about whether or not you think the long or short tips effect the sound quality?

I don't know if mine are long, or midium-sized - certainly not small - as I didn't specifically ask for any paricular size, but mine look similar to HeadphoneAddict's long ones, perhaps only a little less so. Isolation is incredible, perhaps 'too' good as it really blocks out A LOT of outside noise, and that's me having fit issues with the left earpiece.

I have one of those Nespresso machines, which can be rather noisy when making an espresso. Well, the other day I made myself an espresso, and suddenly realised I heard nothing from the machine and I didn't have loud music on my ES3X.

Better is subjective. Some folks will be disappointed with the VERY in-head experience and will declare nearly any top level full-sized headphone better than the ES3X's or well, any IEM.

Again, for some things, the ES3x's are the best I've heard. In other areas they don't touch the best of the stuff I own. Don't look to these phones as the be all and end all. They aren't that. What they are are a significant amount of sound for the money in a unique package which offers advantages to other phones of the same calibre.

Where are you getting $1500 from? $850 converted to CAD is $1025 today and the molds only cost me $65. Even shipping those out overnight, you would only be hitting about 1125+ shipping to you.

My Westone audiologist included the impressions at no extra cost. Perhaps this would be something that is negotiable for you.
The $850 price also included taxes and shipping. Total cost, including everything was $850 USD.

Yes, this is depressing. I would think that Westone would only work with audiologists who would not gouge the customer. That $850 price is supposed to have everything included. Was the audiologist who charged you $1429 authorized by Westone?

Where did you get the quote from?

I have experience with carriers such as DHL will skip custom fees. But I'm unsure.
My custom tips didn't have tax shipping from UK via TNT.
