The Westone 4 needs approximately 10% more volume than the UM3X. I'd say so far that the most noticeable improvement is in the mids. Vocals are more forward and these start to sound very audiophile-like on some delicate and complex Classical pieces such as Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte.
