Are the 3s only going to ship with the Comply tips? Or will it come with an assortment of tips like products from Shure, Ety and UE?

I ask because I have finicky ears that are sensitive to certain tips (I own UE SF5Pros and use the smallest silicon tips). I don't like UE's foam tips, but hear that Complys are better. The thing I don't like is the added cost of replacing them (how long does an average Comply tip last for before needing to be replaced?).

I'm intrigued by the UM56 add-on, but have read here that some people have problems with it (comfort, fit, etc.).

Thanks!

They will be shipping with:
Comply Tips - small,med large
Silicone tips - small, med, large
tri-flange tips - 1 set

Length of time is dependent on amount of use and your body chemistry. Most can wear them for a few months.

My question is whether the in-line volume control is detatchable. Is it built in to the cord, or can you choose whether or not to use it? By they way, I am a satisfied UM2 owner, but I might have to upgrade if these are as good as I hope. Thanks, CK

It doesn't have a built in-line volume control. I'm not sure it even comes with one. I think he suggested using one if you have a hissing problem. When I tried on my 5th gen ipod, I didn't hear any hiss. I'm sure if I turned the volume up with no music playing, I'd probably hear a very small amount like I do with the ue10.

One of the accessories is an inline volume control, it's been pretty much stated every where that there is one, we just don't know how it works.

could you include bi-flanges as well (or at least a second triflange so a bi-flange could be made from it....). thanks!

I'll mention that to the team. That is a good idea.

Thanks for the answer powderhound. When you say most can wear complys for a few months between changes, do they require washing or some form of other care?

I tried to use alcohol swabs on the foam tips of my UEs but they just ended up eating away at the foam. I don't want to destroy the complys while trying to clean them.

With that range of tips, I think this just moved to the top of my "want" list.

ooohhh using alcohol on any tip is bad. Stick with warm water and a mild soap, or even a baby wipe on a vinyl or acrylic material. The alcohol eats away at it and causes some material to harden. For the Comply Tips, warm water will do the trick once, after that it's time to replace them. Foamies were not just made to be a long-term use and washed.
