Hi powderhound23!

Can you make a comparaison between your ES2/ER4P and the Westone 3 especially in terms of vocals/midrange placement,etc...? (I like forward vocals!)

It would be really nice cause it would be my first IEM purchase and I want to make the best choice !

Thanks alot for all these insights !

I dont think he can. He's a "Member of the Trade" and works for Westone and they can't talk about sound sigs.

He can definitley compare between ES2 and the Westone 3's, it does get stickier when making comparisons with other phones and just best to avoid it altogether.

In this particular forum area (in which the Members of the Trade essentially pay to advertise in the form of discussion threads), the thread-starter (and his co-workers) is allowed to promote his products in his own thread in here, including the discussion of his products' sound signatures.

Ok right, I'll ask for a comparaison between these two instead!

Would'nt be fair anyway for Etymotic ER4P since they are not as expensive.

Thank you!

I too would love to hear a comparison, as have been thinking about going down the ES2 path recently.

Coincidentally, once you get your ALO Copper Dock, and I get my Tomahawk, and we both get the UM1's...we'll have exactly the same setups with the 60GB Ipod. Haha.

Honestly in the A/B I've done between the ES2 and the new 3, they are pretty close actually. The 3 does have a little more in the highs and the mids are little smoother and more detailed. The ES2 wins in the lower freq's. That is due to the way it was designed and being custom fit, not a fault of the 3. The goal of the 3 was to give a good, full and warm sound that you can really fine tune to the way YOU want to hear them, not the way we think you should hear them. The 3's got a LOT of good reviews from MacWorld this past week and these will be starting to show up in the press and media.

How does it compare to the UM2 with the um56 molds? Also, would you be able to post some pics of it? how much different in size is it from the UM2?

Honestly it depends on the use. For recorded/compressed music the 3 is better. For live music (stage use, etc) the UM2 edges the 3 out. This comes down to design really. It really is a subjective thing.

@p0wderh0und23

Ok, so is there any more info about the custom version of the new 3 yet?

I've been planning on pulling the trigger on a set of ES2s for quite some time. While I love my UM2+56 combo, I've got a bug in me that is itching for full customs. Any idea what the time frame for the custom version of the 3 will be?
