We're in just the same boat, for some reason I felt like coming and browsing and head-fi a few days ago, remembered all the Westone 3 hype that was abound a year ago when I picked out my Denon C700, and became engrossed with all the positive reviews. The only thing was the price... 30% Live cashback on ebay purchases!? Problem solved. Purchased my pair today, too bad I couldn't get the 10% paypal discount to work -- told me I had to explicitly receive the offer. Oh well, hope to enjoy these in a few days and will post impressions.

I couldnt turn down today's 40 percent off either....hope they live up to the hype. seems like the 30 percent cash back and 10 percent off via ebay is a consumer stimulus package all by itself

Oh... that's not good. One of the reasons I'm upgrading to the W3 is because of the lower sensitivity. The W3 is rated at 107 dB compared to 119 for the UM2 so surely the noise should be cut by more than half?

in terms of sensitivity they are to my ears very similiar to the um2's...i am hearing all the hard drive noise and electric static that i do not hear on my etymotic and klipsch phones...i guess it is a trade off

Interesting. I hadn't seen a rating, but had wondered. That confirms what I hear with the 3's. Mine are noticeably quieter(less sensitive) than my UM2's.

OK, well that's encouraging. Hopefully I'll find out for myself in a few days - unfortunately we have to wait until after 5 December here in the UK.

Edit: just checked pjbox.co.uk and the in-stock date has changed to 15 December
