To all the HD 25 owners, but especially those who prefer the velour pads, wash your pads!

The amount of comfort and sound quality increase is insane!

Explanation: There is some kind of foam inside the pads and this foam is kinda stiff/hard.
If you wash the pads, the foam gets gentle and smooth.
This results in a better and closer fit to your head. you can now listen at lower volumes, while getting better sound quality, isolation and comfort.

The pleather pads who could'nt compare to my velour pads in any way before, are now a serious competition. the instrument separation and detail increased a lot, they sound a lot more refined in high and middle frequencies and i think they even added some imaging. on the other hand, they really reveal bad sources now.

The velour pads didnt change that much, but got more comfy better fitting and clean :p
they are way more forgiving and have such a nice bass and drum impact and a more fun signature.

I can't believe how much my headphones gained from this simple "mod", i barely liked them before and now i absolutely love them!

please try yourself and share your experiences! (may be possible with other hp too.)

Ps: Credits go to the guy who suggested the crazy mod to slice the pads take out the foam.and wash it xD. there is no need to slice, and dont forget to remove the pads from the hp before washing :-D

How do you take out the foam? I just wash mine with the foam inside, makes the white velour pads a lot cleaner.

I don't take the foam out!
I washed them in warm water squezed out as much water as possible and then sucked up the wetness with toilet paper. after that i let them air-dry.

Hi guys,

Please use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean your headphones. Refrain from using any solvents or cleansing agents. Do change your ear pads once they're worn out (or periodically).

nope, some require up to 1000+ hours to fully burn in :p although a lot of people think burn in is a myth to begin with.
