Haven't heard the W2. I still vouch for the PFE as being the best, most neutral IEMs for the price. Tonally accurate, but doesn't sugarcoat anything.

The W2's dont need any amping when paired with an ipod or iphone. I heard that the PFE's need amping to sound their best. That is what caused me to get the W2's over the PFE's. If you dont mind carrying around a brick attached to your phone when you are on the go, the PFE's should be fine.

The cord on the W2's is also great. Its study and wont tangle. It also isnt vulnerable to microphonics due to the over ear design.

I think they're rather a wash. The w2 can do bass and still have crisp highs. The gray filtered PFEs are VG full range but just a hair lean overall depending on player. That said, the mids on the PFE are more natural/better overall balanced. It's hard to go wrong with either. While the PFEs are less effecient, they do not need and amp.

thanks guys.

the se215 has been eliminated for me. I dont want a fun, i need a natural iem. i like my music as it's recorded. so PFE and w2 ismy new dilemma.

If you can stretch the budget a bit, UM3x will give you what you are asking for.  I tried W2 and W3 before settling on these.  <$300.00 street price I think, but I have not shopped for quite a while.

Which filter in the PFE? It would give us a much better indicator of what you like and how they compared for you.

To tell you the truth, I'm not finding THAT much difference between the two. Black one I have to turn the volume up about 5 notches.

That said, I think I like the grey a bit better. I'm a sucker for midrange, but I still like *some* bass. PFE is still a tad bass light and is still a bit shimmery up top for my liking.

W2 now comes with an amp the E6. I highly doubt the PFE are as comfortable, come with as many accessories, have the build quality, or have the very good westone rep.
