@kova4a Thanks for your feedback, it seems I have made a right decision getting the DX200 instead. The micro drivers seem to be loving the fast and punchy sound. Speed is often a key in Trance music and it seems I have proven that a micro driver is best for it again.

Feel like my Yamaha EPH100 aren't gonna get much use anymore.

Well, as I said already a hundred times - I wouldn't rush to conclusions. As far as microdrivers, I've heard a bunch and wouldn't exactly call them fast. Aside from the Gr07 I haven't heard a lot of iems that come even close to BA speed. If anything, I'm underhyping the VSD1 coz some headphones need time to grow on you. For instance, my first comment on the gr04 flagship was that I wasn't impressed in comparison to Gr02BE and I wasn't also very impressed with the s500 too. Usually, the headphones that grow on me turn out to be the better performers in the end in comparison to the ones that wow me at first - the latter ones usually end up assigned to gym use. And as far as the eph100 - it didn't impress me when it was 65 bucks and it didn't impress me when the hype turned it into a $150 iem

Swapping tips till you find the best ones for the particular iem. Most people just go for whatever size fits their ears from the tips included with the iem but on head-fi we know better coz there is a lot more to it than the size of the tip - the material, the wideness of the bore, single, double of triple flange etc. But building a good collection of tips takes time and usually takes a lot of iem purchases

+1. The same iem can sound "not so great" or it can sound "awesome" with different tips. Kinda drives me a bit nuts to be honest lol.

Yeah, and don't get me started on how long it takes me to pick a pair of tips. Usually I get them down to 2 or 3 pairs in a day or two and then go back and forth between those pairs for quite a while till I settle. I definitely won't be deciding today as I might not like to write impressions too early but I do like to start drinking early and I'm already in no position to review iems.

Firstly, that process drives me batty! And what's really fun is at that point getting them all mixed up and having to start over - shoot me lol!

Also, if you don't keep track of which tips came with which iem's right from the get go, it becomes a nightmare trying to get them sorted out again later. Grrr! The only one's I'm really sure about are the vsonic's (or sony's) due to the color coding.

Got my VSD1s in today.

First impressions based on about 10 minutes of music listening: Bassier than expected but well controlled and extended deep into sub bass territory, well appointed midrange, amazing clarity for something so far below $100, nice separation and soundstage. Very "fun" sound signature, though slightly dry in character (not that that's a bad thing) and very impressive resolution so far. Pretty amazing so far.

But...seriously? Printing the VSD1 logo in...Comic Sans of all fonts? Ewww...

Oh, not that again. I've already said I don't drink vodka anymore LOL That was in my high school years coz vodka was cheaper, after that in university I just drank tons of beer and after that I just became mature and i mostly prefer whisky - a bottle or two

Yeah, well that's only because I don't like vodka! :D

Lol!

Well I'm from Belarus so we train drinking on vodka from a very young age haha

Glad someone else feels the same way I do. :D

+1 . I'll probably just remove the labeling.

What is the shell made out of? If its plastic ethyl alcohol. Otherwise I'd try acetone or a generic magic eraser. Don't use acetone on plastic as it will eat through it.

Really? That's what is bothering you? I myself find it fresh

But anyway Vsonic probably are trying a new marketing strategy to try to make the VSD1 appeal to younger people and that's why it's also bassier. The VSD1 will probably use a different font and be less bass-oriented as the S in the name stands for "seniors"

edit: I wouldn't mess with the shell - it's nicely textured and looks cool

Doesn't look that cool to me, looks a bit cheesy. I'll make the final decision when they finally arrive. Excited to hear them, thanks for the reviews so far.

Side note, Fiio HS2 arrived today. Will be fun to A/B using it.
