Thanks. The spinfits didn't work for me. Can't get good seal. I usually use medium size tips but with gr07x I'm using the stock big ones. I guess it's because this iem don't provide deep insertion. Anyway, very happy with the gr07x and the medium size Spinfits worked very well with my IT03 and ATH-IM50.

I'm considering getting the GR07 classics with detachable cable and buying the MEEaudio MMXC cable with inline mic (http://www.meeaudio.com/CABLE-MMCX-MIC-BK/) for it. Do you think it will work with the GR07Cs?
 
Ideally I wanted the GR07X, but they are over my current budget, and I love my GR07Cs, but the cable is falling apart (the outer insulation is ripping due to strain and exposing the inner wires/shielding in several sections of the cable). My GR07Cs shell is also cracked. I've had them for 3.5 years and although they're great the build quality of the cable is pretty appaling.
 
 
Having a GR07C with detachable cable and inline mic would be perfect, please let me know if this can work or not.
 
Also I wish I had the money to go for these crazy GR09. Carbon nanotube drivers sound so cool!

If you don't absolutely need the mic, Venture Electronics is now making IEM cables. I have the 2-pin balanced and an MMCX balanced, and they're both fantastic.

I'd like the mic because I plan on using it on my commute and to do facetime/skype calls while working in my lab (pretty noisy). I'm going to do a little more research, but I think I'm going to go this way. I just have to consider if $118.17 (GR07) + $35.00 (MEEaudio cable) is worth it as a total of $153.17 vs. the $209 GR07X.

Or you can just wait for the gr07c i with mic. Btw, vsonicreleased the new gr07 low impedance version, which is a strange decision as if they are worried about people listening to gr07 on their phones they might have added a mic too to that version

But this new GR07C with mic doesn't seem to have a detachable cable, so if the cable fails I'm screwed.

I mean what more is there to really say about the X. It's a slightly more refined gr07 classic w the option for balanced. Probably not double the price good but still brilliant. I mean the original gr07s I bought were 200+ back in the day too so this small bump is probably justified until the 09 comes out.

Had my 07x for the past four or so months and I listen to them daily and love them each time. Never had a chance to use them balanced but my next dap will likely include it so I'll be able to test more.

My issue is that the new detachable gr07 is significantly cheaper on lendmeurears compared to the gr07x i got from penonaudio

Im not talking about a few bucks but like 60-80 usd

That's why I said they probably aren't worth double the price compared to the new classic detachable.
