Is there anyone here in the states who got hit with import fees when buying the Elysium? So far I've heard of one buyer having issues with customs and needing to pay around $60 to get them released.

I paid DHL $47, but strangely ended up paying, in total, less than the VE configurator showed my set would cost.

I'm looking at somewhere around $3500 roughly, that's including the cost of new impressions and sending them to Germany, but not including any import fees.

Sounds like import duty to me. 8% of declared value, at least for the last thing I imported: a telescope.

Let me help you there: The configurator shows the retail price including 19% German VAT. So apparently, taxes and customs in the US seem to be less in total than our VAT.
All the best from Cologne/ Germany,

Johannes

Does anyone know where I can find the impressions guide for vision ears IEMs?
I didn't find one, but they may be in followup instructions once you place the order. Mine were in German, so I don't know for sure. You could contact Johannes with questions, but I do know VE recommends relaxed closed mouth impressions (no bite block).

Perhaps this isn't relevant since it's a different company, but did you see the video about impressions posted on the FiR thread?

I’ll just wait for an email back as some companies want closed mouth versus open mouth with bite block.

VE work with closed-mouth impressions. I believe everything else (i.e. go past the second bend, full concha, etc.) is more-or-less the same as any other in-ear manufacturers’ specifications.

The impressions i sent VE for my elysiums is with the bite block. I’m curious what’s the difference if without. I don’t really have any fit issues with my elysiums though.

All I can think of is that parts of my ear canals expand very slightly when I open my mouth. So I guess there is that possibility that when you wear them with your mouth closed (unlike singers on stage) most of the time, they be too tight or at least not formed to the normal shape of your canal? Just a guess, that's all I can imagine.
