There are issues with part supplies but around 50 units should release at the end of January into the hands of the first lucky ones.

I just ordered mine! I was on the fence for a long time but I really love the Vio house sound and opportunities like this don't come up often. Hopefully ordering early means priority in shipping in January.

This was from an email I received:

The ETA for the V281 reissue was the end of December. Unfortunately shortages of parts continues to be an issue world wide. Violectric has managed to source all the needed components except one part, the motorized potentiometer / volume controls that are needed for the new relay boards. There was difficulty getting the cases made and many other parts as well in time, but they have been successful in everything but this one last specialized part. Despite this they are now very confident that they will be able to ship at least 50 units by the end of January. We do not have an ETA yet for the remaining 50 however.

We apologize for this unfortunate delay and really appreciate everyone's patiences. Be assured the V281 reissue is not far off and will be worth the wait! Attached are some pictures of the first assembled unit that I received today from Germany.

- Christof Mallmann (Owner of CMA Audio and Violectric) "At the moment we still have the problem that we cannot get the Moto-Poti (motorized potentiometer / volume controls) in sufficient quantities. But we are very confident that we will be able to ship at least 50 units by the end of January."

- Fried Reim (mastermind and engineer of Violectric) has sent pictures today of the first unit. 'Here is a picture of the new relay volume board along with several pictures of the completed amplifier'.

Here is a picture of the volume control.

You should try the v222. It's not the same sound but pairs well with wide soundstage and bright headphones like the hd800s.
I actually have the V222 right now :D

I like how dynamic/bassy it sounds but hearing how well the V281/HEKV2 pairing performs with an even wider sound stage is tempting to switch to

What DAC do you have? 2 related questions:
  • does the DAC have a volume pot?
  • and what is its output voltage via RCA output?
(I have good reasons to ask this)
