It is just too good both as an amp and preamp.... The sound, the options, opamps, fully balanced etc... Love it

If it were only a headphone amp, or only a preamp I would still keep mine forever. The fact that it does both so well puts it into the "cold dead hands" category for me

As someone with actual "cold dead hands" (and a V281) -- I can relate.

I don't even use mine. It's plugged into the home theatre and hasn't been turned on in 6 months.
Not going to sell it.

Hard to believe Power Holdings isn't suing them into the ground. Maybe it's just not worth trying to sue Chinese companies? You would think they could go after eBay for giving them the platform.

Perhaps they sold the rights for those amps as they are discontinued?

Someone tried to sell me one in PM years ago when the V281 was still in production. Probably more trouble than it's worth to go after them legally.

I wouldn't think it would be hard to pressure Ebay to stop selling bootlegs on their site.

Hype is what it is, but I picked up a V281 in November 2022 and the love with it hasn't worn off. If it was going to wear off, it would have done in a week.
Listening with it now to Overmono's new album Good Lies. I use as pre-amp and with headphones when it gets late. I really don't like spending proper money on headphone amps if they're not also preamps.
Bought a Chord Hugo TT2 yesterday to upgrade a Chord Mojo 2. Hopefully the TT2 goes through because no contact from the eBay seller so far and it's feeling a bit too good to be true at £1000 under what they're currently going for. Wave Theory did a youtube review recently on V281, good video.

I tried my RME w/out the V281 as I was contemplating selling it. While the RME sound was 'good' (left my 800s custom EQ alone), when I went back to the 281 I saw a marked increase in warmth, soundstage/depth, etc. that I think I'll just keep the V281.

I've had mine for over two years now and everytime I listen, I have a new appreciation for the SQ. It is an excellent device, be it as a Headphone Amp, Preamp or an AIO (I have the FE version).

I've auditioned quite a few amps while I had this and none of them have come close to the richness, control and depth the 281 has. It's just so effortless at what it does without compromising on anything.

This is heirloom grade stuff right here. Mine ain't movin.
