Violectric HPA V100 or GS-1??

Just wondering...did anyone actually roll the opamps in the V100 yet? As musicman said, the amp is designed with the stock opamps in mind, so I'm wondering if replacing them would hold any advantage.

BTW, mm, how do you feel about the V200 compared to the GS-1/V100? The 100 and 200 seem similar in their design but I've read that the V200 has a slightly different topology.

Do you know what opamps are in the v100 or v200?

Fried of Violectric explained to me that one op-amp in the NE5532 is doing only impedance matching for signal symmetry ( balance ) input, & the 2nd op-amp is an adjustable ( gain adjustment ) buffer.

Due to the signal input stage op-amp is only working at unity gain, Fried takes the opinion that as long as the noise of the IC concerned is sufficiently low, there would be no apparent advantage in using other high-tech ICs alternative .... he also implied that high-tech ICs should work better when implemented in high gain circuitry, but this is not the situation in V100/V200.

Furthermore, other readily available 5532 replacement ICs are required to work with certain minimum gain ratio for operation stability. And as discussed above ( the unity gain situation ), a direct replacement may seems inappropriate.

That make sense. Thanks, for I don't really know anything about opamps.

There's a lot of drop-in replacements for 5532 that are unity gain stable and sound a heck better...put LT1363's on a browndog and prepare to be wild...also AD797BR, OPA827, OPA1641, LT1128(the unity gain stable version of LT1028), ADA4627-1 etc etc

If I had one of those Violetric amps, I'd give it the LT1363 treatment in the blink of an eye
