Victor HA-FW10000: 10th Anniversary model

They arrived today. I have to say... Even unbalanced and straight out of the iPhone 12 Pro, I prefer these over my other two earphones — the Sennheiser IE800 S and JVC FW01. Even fresh out the box, they're close to what I was listening to just days ago.

Some thoughts 8/1/2021:
unbalanced (stock cable):

-Realism is top-notch.
-The definition is top-notch; sounds are remarkably distinct from one another. Even the bass.
-Bass is well-defined and deep. Speaker-like. Very different from what I’ve always heard with earphones.
-The stock cable is hard to beat.

Balanced (4.4mm):
-Speaker-like presentation goes up a notch; sounds have a bit more room to play in.
-Realism and definition goes up a notch.
-Bass rivals the FXZ200.

The FW10000 with the new spiral dot tips (medium) and an ORB Celestial Force C4 MMCX 4.4mm cable. This cable turned out to be a lot softer than it looked in photos. They come with ear hangers, but I don't even need them. My previous cable was the Alo Audio Super Litz, which was a little stiffer, and the memory wire was fiddly and eventually broke on both sides.

I have been eyeing that cable for my VR1, not FW10000, can you please share your impression with FW1K please? Also, where you did you buy those new tips from?

Sound wise it’s an improvement over the 3.5mm stock cable, which IMO is already hard to beat. The FW10000’s presentation is close to flawless for me. Big, wide, realistic, extremely detailed, and somehow still soft to the ears. Studio recordings sound like performances. Microphonics is minor but it’s there. All I can tell you is that I like what I hear. I don’t have a way to measure it against the performance of any other cable.

I think that with cables you pay more for the materials and craftsmanship than sound quality.

I purchased the cable and the tips from Fujiya-Avic via the World Shopping service
that they offer on their website. If you decide to buy anything from them, you should buy multiple things at once to save on the shipping costs. EMS cost me close to $30 per shipment.

Any more detailed comparison between A8000 and FW10000? I am looking for a single DD for classical music, instrumental jazz with a lot of string instruments.

New ones are difficult to find because WireWorld already discontinued all headphone cables. Besides getting used ones and then replacing those connectors afterwards, apply this 10% off coupon below (perhaps 20% off during Black Friday in US?) after choosing 3.5 Mini Jack to 2 RCAs

https://soundapproach.com/coupons
https://soundapproach.com/wireworld-nano-platinum-eclipse-pen-mini-jack-audio-cable.html

WireWorld didn't really provide any options for MMCX connectors officially, therefore it should be necessary to re-terminate their headphone cables no matter what.

“Sole dealer for DIY cables – Main Electronics HK”

Another option is getting the bulk wires from the authorized dealer in Hong Kong as I mentioned before

Maybe contact them via Facebook (or e-mail) in order to find out if they're willing to ship internationally

They're also making DIY ones with their bulk wires

They just updated their teaser earlier today, most likely someone should be holding a pair of TWS earbuds of some sort?

That new model might simply replace their HA-FX100T then?

I've been looking for something that's powerful enough to drive FW10000 with authority while having the right USB input chip (e.g. XMOS XU208 or XU216) as well as DAC chip(s) to handle 705.6 kHz / 768 kHz files processed by PGGB.

So far this guy seemed to be an ideal choice with a fairly "insane" amount of power when it comes to a battery-powered unit

And then there's this flagship USB cable from SAEC for connecting DAPs to that male USB type-A input of iFi iDSD Diablo

Recently someone compared SAEC to Sablon while both USB cables are offering similar level of performance, in the end he's preferring SAEC over Sablon

https://twitter.com/Lnde20W8kWvMeAM/status/1445369390917046276

FYI - multiple owners of Taiko Audio SGM Extreme (one of the best music servers in the world, just do a search on Google and see what it's all about) also got Sablon for their systems

Other than that, stuff like Chord Hugo 2 or Mojo could also be potential candidates (that aren't as powerful / USB input chip ain't as good) since they're excellent choices for PGGB-RT / PGGB Offline according to these owners

I was guessing it would be wireless/bluetooth earphones. It would be a relief as it would finally be a TOTL Victor Wood product I don't have to buy :p

If it had been a headphone amp/DAC to match the HA-WM90 and FW10000, now that would have been interesting and a must-buy.
