I love them for older music. I'm not afraid to EQ these babies. I wouldn't dream of it with my 650's or Q's but the M's love it. The Human League or Soft Cell with the M's and bass-boost from my E18 sound awesome!

A DAC will improve these significantly.
I use the FiiO E17 at the moment, but when I use the AUX amp option, it makes everything a touch clearer, whereas in DAC / USB mode it makes everything clearer and is an noticeable difference. I don't use an amp anyway, planning to get the Verza when I have funds.

Am I the only one waiting for the shipment of xl black pads for now 5 days? On their website it was 2-3 days. What the heck is this? I am not happy.

i ordered my straight cable last Fri, and last Sat i ordered the XL pads, i got the cable today, but it wasnt in a nice pkg they just threw it in the envelope, it made me mad, and it long to, but i will let you know if i get the pads tomarrow.

I didn't try Depeche Mode, so I can't say specifically. I would think it would sound better than the other bands I mentioned since the sound is different. But Sting or Dave Grohl's vocals are muted pretty badly.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm not here to bash the M-100's or any of the other designs.  I LOVE the aesthetics of the V-Moda's, the build quality, and what I've read/heard about the company itself so far.  I had very high hopes when I heard there were so many audiophiles involved in the design of these.  I'd like to hear the XS's now.  I feel like they may be a little more to my liking.  I'll be sticking to my $60 Martin Logans for now though.

The vocals are bassy, but I wouldn't call them muddy. No way is this anywhere close to muddy. I think congested might be a better term. On the XS they have a similar signature, though the XS has more forward mids so it wasn't as bass-heavy as the M-100 presentation. Through my KSC75, the bass isn't as intrusive and the open sound stage really benefits the song. Blues and Jazz aren't the M-100's strong point. I actually enjoy Buble more on my $15 KSC75. Clarity isn't there, but that openess really draws me into the music.

The cable is 7 mm so itl be a tight fit, and ive never seen anyone confirm it

Vocals muddy? No problem!
Buy a decent amp and a decent EQ app (I suggest CanOpener for iOS)
I don't find the vocals muddy at all. Check your bitrates. It may be the mastering of the song. But I wouldn't go out and say that you're wrong.

When trying the XS (sorry no m100 right now) with AnakChan's new Astel & Kern player (I think AK240? 420? Idk)
I listened to a pure vocal track, Adele. EVERYTHING was clearer. I suggest getting a good amp to suit your music. The M100s are a great set of cans (besides the ATH m50) to equalise and amp.
