V1 is just a digital transport without any Audio chips inside. What you're referring to is the V1-A which uses an AK4377 DAC chip.
That being said, why not the V1+9038S? :p
Yes.
I use them together. I'm quite picky about quality (and spoiled rotten :p ) and I like them a lot. Like above mentioned, it's not the same thing, but it's a very good combo. If you want even more versatility and still very good sound, I use the Tempotec HD pro with the V1 too, sound is a bit less analytical and can also do DSD. Very enjoyable.
Hi Guys, since you are the one who pop up when I google, I have Tempotec V1 and want to pair with E1da 9038SG33.. but seems a bit issued in cable.. can you advice which cable I have to used ?

The A/B/C/D thing is for the non pro version. So disregard that if yours is the Pro version.

Tempotec Sonata HD Pro has only a firmware update here: http://www.tempotec.com.cn/en/3-Support/index.htm - go to the bottom most links.

Leaning toward the Xduoo Link 2 rather than the Hidizs S9 for my 11/11 purchase now. I like the idea of buttons for volume and playback control. Might get a Tempotec Sonata HD Pro too just for comparison's sake and maybe gift it or sell it later, since it's so cheap.

I just use any usb-c cable with the V1. To the Tempotec HD Pro, E1DA 9038s or any dac it just works as expected. Teradak in my workshop, Denafrips at home, HD-pro or E1DA on the go... no problem.
The only thing is you need to configure the output on higher rate high-res and DSD (Native, or DOP when dac can't handle native DSD). Some older usb input chips can't even handle over 48, some 96 or 192kHz.

If you are looking for top audio quality - e1da 9038Sg3 (2.5mm) and 9038d (3.5mm). All other dacs/amps have more functions/hardware controls. I personally have Link 2 and i like it, good power and hardware bass boost (!). Thinking to try 9038d, but then i need a good source with a robust EQ, good EQ is hard to come by.

e1da has developed the software to control EQ, filters and many more too.
