URBANFUN YBF-ISS014 Impressions thread

I still have an order in transit from an AliExpress seller that shall not be named. The order was placed on February 6. The sent me a second shipping notice on April 14. I suspect the first shipment was lost somehow. This hobby has its frustrations.
yes, I often struggle with the decision to order from AliExpress or Amazon. With Ali, the price is less, but the wait can be frustrating. With Amazon Prime, the products arrive so fast that sometimes it makes my head spin.

I checked with the Urbanfun official Aliexpress store and they confirm that a new version is available with mmcx issue resolved and the driver is berrilium coated.

I am not sure if there is any way to identify the driver but the mmcx issue can certainly be verified on arrival.

I really appreciate the Blon 03 and VK4. On the verge of ordering an urbanfun but will probably wait for a sale.

didnt they say that the mmcx problem was fixed months ago? That didnt happen, since people still received faulty units.

Amazon every time for me which limits choice (not that I order much). Rather have it quicker than cheaper.

They have no credibility whatsoever after switching coatings in the first place.
Well, you can say whatever you like on the internet. However, I received my Urbanfuns several weeks ago, ordered from the AliExpress UF store, and they are perfect. They appear from the deeper than Blon sub-bass to be the beryllium driver version, and the mmcx connectors are fine. I changed the tips to my personal favorite Auvios, and they sound great. Don't get me wrong. Some days I like the Blons better and some days the Urbanfuns take the prize. But it seems as if I am starting to choose the Urbanfuns more often these days.

Ok mine arrived from Linsoul after 2 months as well today.

I’m honestly blown away with these things for $60. I lived with the AKG-N5005 because I generally like Harman but the Bass was kinda weak for me and the filters didn’t quite do it for me. So I got the KXXS and similarly wasn’t super excited about it. I have an isine that I love and prefer but wanted a more portable iem as I kind of outgrew the 1more Quad.

So current impressions are that this one may finish the search. I am listening to Zeppelin and tool right now and don’t hear any problem with the timbre at all. And I’m very picky. I think it’s a more “V/fun” sound but executed very well. Does this sound similar to the Xelento? Can anyone chime in? I get the impression they may have similarities.

These are also SUPER comfortable and I’ll probably try sleeping with nature sounds with Em soon.

Oh and I’m a major Edm person and they’re stellar there.

So after a few days continuously playing the new Blon 05 I decided to compare with another couple of IEMs. I love my Urbanfun iss014 and my Semkarch CNT1 so they became the 3 contenders. All had different cables but the same Spiral Dot L tips.

Tracks
Tears Inside Ornette Coleman
Love Wars Womack and Wom
Ghost Town Katie Melhua
Reckoner Radiohead
Cocteau (binaural) Ottmar Liebert
Come all year fair * Red Tail Ring

After one round of playing I dropped the Semkarch CNT1 as it could not compete with either the UBF iss014 or the Blon 05....on bass with the UBF or midrange with the Blon 05.
On Love Wars the bass and warmth are way ahead on the Urbanfun. On Ornette Coleman, Tears Inside, both sound great but the Blon has slightly more defined bass guitar and is much more spacious....better. Ghost town, Katie Melhua the UBF is way ahead of the Blon 05 with its warm bass oozing and warming the whole track. Reckoner, Radiohead, the cymbals and general timbre and rhythm sounds better on the Blon 05. On Cocteau, Binaural by Ottmar Liebert these two very different IEMs show their talents at spaciousness and share all the qualities. The Semkarch CNT1 was my daily driver for some time, but it just cannot compete with the Blon 05 or the UBF iss014......the Blon 05 because of the great midrange and the timbre of the Blon 05 or the superb bass of the UBF iis014.
The Blon 05 or the UBF iss014. A draw after six hard fought rounds between the boxer, Blon 05 and the knockout specialist, the UBF iss014. Two belters of an IEM. Great comparison because they are so different. Sad though, that the QC of the UBF iss014 is taking the limelight. It seems to have real manufacturing problems.

I find these to be pleasing enough except for - what I perceive to be - a peak somewhere in the treble region that makes the hard to listen to for extended sessions. They are already bassy or I would use narrow bore tips to try to contain that peak, but too narrow and the signature would probably turn to mush. I may try a few more tips, but for now have retired these from my rotation. Glad others are enjoying them!

A small piece of foam or alcohol pad filter in the nozzle should take the treble for you.

You know what, these do have a “wow” factor but I think it may be the “chifi V” that Cron describes. They are fairly bright/harsh up top and quickly aggregate my tinnitus in a way that Harman-esque tuning rarely does with my Audeze and Bose products.

These are cool for $60 but I’m not sure if they’ll actually make my regular rotation.

You nailed it with chifi V signature, though amount of details for YBF is really impressive, just it doesn't float with my type of music that I listen to and I did get tired quickly.
Many these type of budget iems focus to chase that high end sound signature while qualities are not up there

I just bought these IEMs with a doubt because it was cheap. (Linsoul) I received 2 months after my order. Wow, it's actually a upgrade from Moondrop kanas pro with everything in stock (ear tips and cable). The details is a bit lacking from multi-BA IEMs. But it produces enjoyable sound if you like the V sound. For $60, it's a steal!
