They will sell out of them. Some people spent $40,000 grand a ticket to see Adele in Vegas (barf!). Some people just have money.

I really cannot fathom how they justify the price based on performance, or even R&D expense . Just because something costs a fortune to develop doesn't necessarily mean it's any better. "Magical 3D imaging". Seems like I've heard that same claim made a dozen times before.

I’m sorry everyone. When the price crowd came into my lcd-5 thread and complained, I justified it. Now they come for your unique melody and I will join you. This is absurd. But it is still acceptable because you know they will release cheaper version later. This is just the limited release and new TOTL tax. Let others pay it and be patient. You’ll have access soon.

Well, in case the market is on fire, with lots of hype in the air and sufficient cash rich buyers, such prices will be tested by the manufactures. Over time their marketing will presciently infuse the market again and again with “overpriced” gear, they will engage with key influences creating top review results etc etc … and bang the community slowly but surely will learn to accept mega price tags.

We all remember first mobile phones exceeding $1000! Nowadays everyone learned premium phones just cost north of 1k - marketing mission accomplished.

With this pricing I am guessing they are targetting collectors. The colors also standout too much imo. Its red and chinese new year release. You guys know what I mean.

This is getting ridiculous… and this is coming from a MEST Indigo owner.

That being said, can’t imagine anything sounding much better - if something does, it would fiscally make sense for it to need to cost a significantly more expensive amount to be believable.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Indigo sounds better too, straight up. So much marketing behind this initiative, and especially subjectivity.

As a fan of UM, I personally find these practices are a bit distasteful and damaging to this already damaged hobby.

Not going to spend more than $2k for IEM, even if I do, I will consider an Empire Ears Odin.
