Unified X1,3,5,7 Theming thread (Video/image library)

Hi, thanks for the awesome-looking theme.

I've updated to 1.3 with your theme and there seems to be an issue with the quick start guide part in the "about X1" section. When scrolling clockwise, it's stuck on the intro page, and anti clockwise it goes to page 9 of the user guide.
No big deal of course, just thought I'd let you know.

H there,

I just tried the user guide on my Fiio X1 (using my theme update of the 1.3 firmware) and the user guide seems to be working fine on my unit. When I scroll clockwise it runs through the user guide pages 1 - 9, and when I scroll anti-clockwise it runs through the user guide pages 9 - 1.

Maybe try installing the firmware again. If it's still an issue, sorry but I'm not sure what I could do to fix it. My firmware update is really just an update to the theme images, so I'm not sure how it could have stopped the user guide working.

I upgraded from 1.2 to your 1.22 beta theme and then to your 1.3 theme.
Reinstalling your theme directly didn't solve the issue so I flashed the official firmware and then your 1.3 theme and now the issue is gone.

I completely forgot about this thread. I was insanely busy but the storm has passed now. Hawaiibadboy has created a great place for FiiO modders!

Regarding the transfer of the Analogue theme to the other devices I agree that it won't be possible. Not only does it use custom sized images and positions - different from the default - it also uses 7 icons in the menu screen (launcher) and the X1 and X3 II use 6 icons. I'm not even going to guess what it would take to port to the original X3.

It's curious that the .ini doesn't function for the coordinates for the X1, and at the same time the .ini for the text color doesn't function for the X5 (well, it only changes alert colors).

Here is the prototype theme for the X7, I wonder if it's customizable given that it's Android based.

Would be sweet if it was........ I'd be all over that!

the initial UI design for X7 ( not the final version ).

I have a Vimeo account but have to admit that I hate the sound of my own voice so I'm debating whether to do a video of my themes or just post pics over here of the themes I've done. It's great to see all the quality themes here accross the FiiO devices! Nice work everyone!

No talking (if ya don't want)

The account is true share. If I played with other folks work (video) after clearly saying it was a share account I would rightly be banned for abuse of privledge. It's for everyone.
I will PM the details and hope you show your themes in the way you want. It is a win for the folks who want it and the guy who built it

I am kinda bummed about this

I googled "android themes"

Not gonna be making what we make with the X5 for sure. This is enough to keep me where i am at. Once you have opened it up and gutted it there is no going back. I'm so paranoid I won't even download future X5 fw's until it's been shown to have same user access.

Having a phone app is like this. My X5 is unique. Don't want another phone.I get the practicality but I am too hooked on tweaking to settle for color tweaks.

When the X7 comes out maybe the X5 drops in price and expands the owner pool and the folks who want themes...the positive side

If the X3 upgrade to X3 II is any indication then the X5 will be allowed to run out of stock before the X5 II is released, which is expected in the early summer (confirmed, more or less). I pray that they keep the same screen resolution (or better) and type (IPS). Also hoping they maintain the custom theming and EQ usability on all outputs.

Hmmmmmmmm. Might be time to PM Joe.

Mine has become the demolition of the top bar. It's constant existence/ lack of customizing is one of the biggest interrupters for some moders.
It really annoys me. It's a pet peeve...

I decided one day to use smoke and mirrors to make it feel gone. I don't need a volume icon or mSD card icons. The volume is in numbers and I know and have 2 ways to check my mSD situation. I do not need to see an icon of an SD card. I DO need a battery indicator and gain is not really a need but I want it. So take the 2 and make them as small as I can.
This turned out to be a big success. Not a single person up to the writing of this post ...on here or anywhere said....wish I had that mSD icon....no volume icon is a dealbreaker....
Never. It's the best work I have done. My attempt at making the topbar a non topic and seeming to succeed is my best get...the one thing I really nailed. Offering custom versions was a good thing but it's framework is pretty dope.

The last of the 3 was a very slight increase in image offset by rotating the text and raising the battery icon to the upper most point in it's area. Keeps the illusion of space.
That and the contrast of the lower levels is the better of the 3 but the text on top in the second was the most balanced.

I am a believer that removal of the extra icons in the launcher help decrease skipping as it is related to U.I and G.U.I
Since I have deleted all but 7 images in the launcher I have less skidding. A lot of themes are down to the magnificent 7 in their launch mod. I wonder if I am the only one who thinks it makes a diff?

I don't know if 2.36 sound any different from  2.40 but thinking seven images to go through 7 points is more efficient than the ....12? 18? in the default launcher....that makes sense.

And I will forever marginalize/hide/draw attention away from the topbar.

I got lucky getting the X5. I don't know if the DX90 or other similar DAP's have the same ability to custom? It doesn't look like they do.
+1 for FiiO

It's 2nd only to the sound......the personalization I mean.

I agree. I think the speed/accuracy of navigation depends on a combination of the size, amount, and compression of the images used. For example when the Matrix theme came out the modder ran in to a cap with the image size and the X5 wouldn't load the images (or something like that). He was like 1 or 2 mb over the cap. He resized/re-compressed the image (or something like that) and it worked fine afterward. Found the POST

In some cases it's the perfect storm that'll hinder the experience. In others it will enhance the experience. There is only so much memory in the device to use theme images and the less the X5 has to hunt for and load images the faster it's going to be. Same with album art.

I also agree about the top bar, but have kept most of the elements in there myself. You're right though, who doesn't know what mSD card they inserted? Or what the volume numbers mean?

The theme i stuck with after having tried so many is Hi Fidelity. The simplicity of the top bar, easy navigation, speed and customisation is a modder absolutely nailing it in my opinion. My appetite for something different has been suppressed which means my focus is back on the music.

Thanks Sir. Will do.

BTW you're not alone. The Hi-Fidelity had it's biggest day ever yesterday and folks who's first try is the Hi-Vinyl are seeing the Hi-Fidelity and switching. The top progress line is the Hi-Vinyl nose diving and the Hi-Fidelity rising from the dead. Very weird pattern. I will still do some final tweaks to Hi Vinyl anyway...I like it. First times a charm with that concept apparently?

I'm a data junkie...I had vagueness and unknowns. Data drilling takes a lot of that out.
