I haven't tried that yet, but why?

The pleather would probably make the isolation better and add to the bass.
And I think that when driving them with a cec, the sound signature is to different between the pro900 and e9 for them to sound similar with just a pad or cable change.
But that doesn't mean that they won't sound good after a long burn in, the pro900 are actually very nice once the bass settles down.
I preferred them over my 2500 that I have passed to someone else now

Happy Listening!

I'm happy that you have the opportunity to listen to both the ED 9 and the Pro 900... LOL. The ED 9 remind me how the HD650 can sound in about 10 years in to the future...

Today I have a chance to briefly compare my still breaking in Pro 900 against K701, K601, DT990 in a dealer showroom. Granted, I don't have a fine amp at hand to show off what these more current hungry phones are capable of. Therefore take my impression with a grain of salt.

Amongst the three other cans mentioned, the K601 strike me as sounding the best, but whether due to its titinaum driver I prefer the Pro 900 as being the cleanest, nimble and smooth. The Ultrasone might be a tad cool but highly detailed.

It is sad that I may have to let go of my Pro 900 because they are too heavy (295g) and aggregate some neck health issue of mine. Hopefully when the edition 8 is launched it will be of lighter weight and usable by myself...

The edition 8 are 260g but I doubt that they will be close to the price of any of the headphones that you have just mentioned.

Thanks, I am aware of the higher price of the edition 8, but the Pro 900 has got me hooked....

Edition 9 is discontinued and the Edition 8 is the one came after the edtion 9...two completely different headphones, Edition 8 is not a replacement of Edition 9...and seems cheaper...

Search the forum on 'pro900' you'l find plenty. Also take a look outside this 'headphone' section, and in the 'ulrasone' section. Now after all that and you still can't find it, you may pm me and I will search them and give you a direct link,
