I just ordered these for $265 used instead of the HD650, probably saving a screwload of money on amps as well. I was just wondering if an E7 could drive these enough since it's all i could afford?

I had these in my cart too :)  Ever ordered from Amazon Warehouse before by chance?  Wondering if it'll come with all the accessories etc?  Just hesitant to buy used but if its basically new, I'm gonna go ahead and order and save a nice chunk to.

I ordered beyer 990/600 from amazon warehouse last week.  It came with original packaging and all accessories.  I tried them for a bit but didn't love them.  I would love to try ultrasone pro 900.  I am eyeing those as well.

I previously owned the pro900 before I blupgraded to the he-6, I ust got the he-300 and I believe at 300 it beats the pro900 in every aspect.

preference of how you want your bass to sound may be more in play here

Heya,

I'd like to hear the HE-300 compared to the Pro 900 with this track.

Hey guys I'm almost set on getting the Fiio E11. Is it necessary to get the L9 in case I get an iPhone in the future, will it make a big difference compared to the 3.5mm cable it comes bundled it with ?

Thanks Mal,

I think I'm gonna get the E11 now and see what phone I decide to get in the upcoming months.

Also, what portable amp do you use with your 900's and can u tell a big difference listening straight from iPhone or with an amp ?

Heya,

I use an older Vivid V1 Technologies amp. I tell a difference in the highs and lows. Bass is more full, richer, hits harder and recovers faster. The highs tame down and are less bright, so I get my detail, but I don't get a headache for it. Equivalent would be any of the current stuff, like E7, uDac2, PA2V2, E11, etc.

Very best,

Great stuff, thanks.

Can't wait for the price of 900's to go down a little. I plan to use the E11 while at work and on the move and I'll use the WA6 SE at home. I'll be back with my impressions once I get them. These will be my 2nd high end headphone after the HD650's.

Heya,

Only a weird sale will get them lower, or buying used. Fluctuating by $20 is normal, but no significant drop is going to happen for years. All of this is novelty stuff as it is. Pro 900's retail near $500, but places like Amazon routinely sell them around the $350 area new. They're still mid-tier headphones. Not quite high-end. High end would be flagship material. And Ultrasones have flagships that cost more than most other brands' flagships. HD800 for example compared to Edition 10. Huge difference in cost. That's high-end. I think Pro 900's are as high as it goes before you get into that expensive high-end stuff though. Not much hits like the Pro 900's do in the mid-tier category. Denon D2000 comes close I think. I'd love to side-by-side them.

Very best,

After listening to these a few days, i have to say its the best bass from a headphone ive ever heard and i know a thing or 2 about bass
i got a 13.5" w7 and 1000 watt jl audio monoblock amp in my car. Im not saying it's equal to a jl w7 much less impact and quantity but in a way much cleaner too and a w7 is pretty clean for a full size sub.

Yea, going from HD 202 (I think)/HD555 to HD650 was a big jump and to me the HD650's and Pro 900's are probably as high end as I will ever go. I can never see myself spending $1000's of dollars on headphones so I consider this high end. I think after I get the 900's, the next upgrade will be a dedicated DAC (using a Prelude at the moment)  and I might check out some other headphones in the <$500 range.

Quick questions: I've seen some pictures of the 900's with grey pads. Do these come with the headphones or do they need to be purchased separately ?
