so i got the Pro 900 yesterday and the sound is very harsh and i am having alot of sibilance .. does this go away in time with burn-in!?!? if not these are going back for sure.

Hi, I bought a pair Pro 900s a while back and I thought exactly the same thing. I found the sound very harsh and sibilant and was considering sending them back too. However, I burned them in for about 5 days ie continously playing all sorts of music through them 24x7. Every 6 hrs or so, I would adjust the volume of the music up or down for the whole length of the burn in period.
When I tried them on again after the 5 days I found the harshness had calmed down a lot and although there was more brightness than I am used to, the sound was much warmer and pleasant to my ears.
I know there is a debate as to whether burn in works on not, but in my epxerience with the Pro900s, burn in helped change them from harshness to a mellower sound.

Burn them in 300-400 hours

There's no reason to be that extreme about it.  You shouldn't have to wait that long before being able to enjoy your $350++ headphones.  After the first 3-4 days (40 hours) you'll definitely notice a difference, and even more after a week.  While there still may be an improvement in sound after the 150-200 hours mark, you'll have reached the point of diminishing returns long before then.  The next best thing would be to amp them in some way.

The single most important fact with these headphones is: you get out what is put into them.  If you're listening to anything less than 320kbps MP3 files, you'll be enduring the "wire brush meets snare" annoyance more often than not.  Try sticking with lossless, or just playing CDs/DVD/Blu-Ray/Consoles and you'll see better results.

@Pr0xy89: I pretty much couldn't stand listening to much of anything with these within the first few days.  I'd say I was borderline resenting them, and not willing to give them any time, expecting "break in" to have little, to no effect.  Well, it does have an effect--although I also have one piece of felt in each ear as well.

10 hours > tamed a little
100-110  > noticed a setting down (if you don't like them now, you won't ever)
300+ > diminishing returns , more taming

silver dragon cable > more smoothing

I agree with Sactuary if you don't like them after some hours you would probably don't like them when they are fully burned...

Keep your mp3's at 320 kb/s definitely don't go lower.. Please try a lot different music.. I myself discovered a complete new world.

Seriously, if you want to post songs you think sound good, maybe it would be better to do it on another thread, as this one is about discussing everything Pro 900 related.

It has more to do with what those videos have in common with the 900s...
