The only problem with the 900s is that when you listen to other cans you think it lacks bass ;p

Am I the only one who thinks these cans don't do too well with hardstyle? The bass is simply not boomy enough to sound realistic for that particular genre, and s-logic does not seem to do anything for that particular genre either. I think they do most other electronic genres well though.

The really worrying part is when you think the Pro 900 don't have enough bass, and makes you wonder how would a Pro 950/1000 would be

Hey guys i know that i am out off topic but i really want to know what amps are you using with your 900's and how happy you are with them...
I am considering to upgrade from E7 to a good bass boost amp and i am a little bit lost with all these amps that are out there..

I like the Headstage Arrow. (assuming you meant portable and not desktop?)

I am considering Arrow as well..
It is well reviewed..
I think the new 4G will be released soon....
Will you say it is kind of neutral or a bit on the warmer side?
I don't mind looking for a desktop amp too but i would prefer a portable one...

I am currently using the Fiio E7+E9, pretty good for the cost I dear say.

However, I did order a new Matrix Quattro Dac last week ^^, Hope it's going to be a good match. Though, I mostly bought it for setting up a balanced setup for the HD650.

I also hope Matrix will turn up good for you..
Yeah pretty good combo but don't you miss the lack of bass boost when you dock E7 with E9?
I've heard that this function does not work if these two are combined...

There is no need for bass boost on the Pro 900s xD

For you.

EDIT: Actually, let me rephrase that. Since I got my Pro 900s, I've always said that while they certainly have a nice bass presence, I wouldn't mind at all having more impact, though this is only of interest if it doesn't come at the cost of smearing the rest of the spectrum. And I'm not so sure if tubes would really be a good match for these headphones.

The Arrow doesn't seem to have any coloration to me, but I can't compare it to other portable amps except the iBasso T3d which was slightly warmish.

The bass boost on my 2G (I think it has been changed in the 4G) is very clean sounding, but not really that configurable as it is either 0dB, 9dB or 9db+9dB<70Hz.

So with the Pro900 thats a choice of too much bass or waaaaay too much bass!

I get your point about bass gain..
Seems to me that it completely lacks configuration..
From 0db to 9db is a hell of a jump...
And how do you find the bass impact?
Doesn't it become boomy or overwhelming the rest of the spectrum?
