I don't want to take it too OT from the Pro900, but it depends if you are looking for just a bassy IEM or a bassy IEM similar to the Pro900.

I still think the Westone 3 or MTPC or FX700 imitate an in-ear Pro900 quite well in terms of treble and bass. Although, if isolation is important forget the FX700.

I understand. I say I am looking for bassy IEMs in general.

Refer to my review, as I've heard both the MTPG (bloated) and owned the IE8's for nearly 2 years.

Thanks for the info. After reading a couple of comparisons between MTPC and IE8, I am leaning towards MTPC (not MTPG) as I prefer colder sound.

To get off the OT track, here's a picture of the silver pads in wild.

Loving the looks of those silver pads. I'm assuming they're the same pads that are used on the PRO 750's, after trying the 750's I found the 900's slightly more comfortable.

Directly from Ultrasone. It's $32.95 + $10 shipping (yeah...

).
You can email infoteam@ultrasone.com.
It's not Beyer pads but it does improve the feel a bit and the look

Has anyone played with EQ'ing these in Foobar2000?  What are you using?

I run my Pro 900 EQ'd in foobar2000, but not through the stock EQ, as it is meant to correct phase shift errors. I'm currently using Ozone 4, with a very gentle sub bass bump and 3 treble dips at 5KHz, 9.5KHz and a gentle rolloff from 17KHz onwards. But I'm still tweaking and fine tuning to find a baseline EQ setting that might be an all rounder.

Though, Electri-Q is also a very good choice, powerful and versatile.

Both are VSTs, and have to run with a VST bridge, such as Foobar2000 VST 2.4 Adapter by Yegor Petrov: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=84947

I used to be quite the fan of George Yohng's VST bridge solution, but it didn't work with the same range of VSTs and is currently flagged as an unstable foobar2000 component.

You suggest some expensive EQ's in your thorough and thoughtful reponse.  I know there are usually ways of reducing the prices, but if there's a free option, I'd like to explore that.

Electri-Q has a freeware version, and there are others as well. Both Electri-Q and Isone Pro are good choices.

And yes, I know Ozone is expensive, as it is a mastering suite, but I'm only using select components of it.

Oh I see now, I'll check out the Electri-Q posihfopit one.  Thanks!

Hello!

I've seen that the prince range of the Pro900s vary a LOT, from like ~$350 on eBay, to ~$400 on Amazon (seller AudioTopia), to $550 on Musician's Friend.

Are there fake of these?
Or should I just go for the cheapest?

I'm leaning towards Amazon, though I'm afraid of getting fakes (as it's not amazon itself who sells them).

What do you suggest me to do?

THANKS!
Stefano

I would also recommend the Brainworx digital v2 mastering tool.
it's very powerful and neutral mastering tool that really is a masterpiece in terms of fine tuning the sound to your liking.

Finally decided to order these (largely due to this thread) after much deliberation and they should be in on Tuesday. Based on all the impressions here these seem perfectly suited for my musical tastes, and I hope they live up to the hype.

These are the Pro 750 or PRO 2900?  They are a direct fit for the Pro 900s or do you need to do the j$ mod and hot glue them?
Thanks!  I am looking to upgrade the pads on my Pro 900s and if this is a direct fit, I might go that route.

On a side note, has any one compared the J$ Denon pads to the Beyer pads on the Pro 900s?  I love how comfortable my Beyers are but don't want to lose any SQ with a pad upgrade.
Thanks again.

I asked for the silver 900 pads and these are what they sent me. I don't know for sure whether these are the same as 750 pads but I assume so. And, yes, they are direct fit so there's no tweaking needed, just take the old ones out and put these in.

A lot of people, including me, have bought them from buyauthorized on ebay. They aren't fakes and are the cheapest price you can get I think.
