hey leander i see you have a recabled pro 900. Did you just buy one off a company or something else cause a DIYer was gonna do this really nice cloth cable for me but hes not sure what 1/8" plug to use that go in the headphone side.

That's the same reason I went fir them. they aren't better headphones, they just suit me more. If you're looking for amazingly detailed, heavy hitting bass, I still have to recommend the pro900. the pro2900 have some amazing bass and there're definitely bass emphasized, but it lacks the pro900's fullness.

Actually I got the PRO 900 not because of the bass but because of S-Logic.

What I prefer about the PRO 900, though, it's semi-portable as it plays very loud out of the iPhone. I hear that's not possible with the 2900 so I would need an additional portable amp for hotels and longer trips...

Yeah, I would not try to run the 2900 out of an ampless source, the midrange disappears to the point any vocals become whispers. I'm not even sure my Essence is driving it well enough, I'm getting a bit of distortion.

Have you figured out what amp you'll pair your PRO900 with?

No I havn't. I'm waiting on some impressions for the PROs and the Little Dot MK V. I'm thinking I'm either getting the LD, the Mstage, or a KICAS if I can find one. I've decided I'm not really looking for a bass boost like I was before, but more texture and detail in the bass.

I've read one review from a guy on Headphonista.com who said that he tested the M-stage with the Pro 900 and he thinks that it is a very good match..
I am one step away from ordering it even though i have DJ1..

Edit:Sorry guys i forgot the link before...

The only thing that is stopping me from picking up the Mstage is its "musical" nature, the PRO 900s may do well with it, but the PRO 2900 has a very natural musical sound too it already, I'm afraid that any more may make it loose its aggression.

Do you guys find amping the 900's with a tube amp better than solid state?

I have WA6se at home, but I might pick something cheap to use at work. First I have to see/hear how the isolation is on these phones.

personally i dont like tube amp's they color the sound. Sure some like the coloration of a tube amp but i prefer the neutral accuracy of solid state. I think you should stick to solid state type amps
