Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

I too found the bass lacking at first coming from the tf10 pro but found that using a fiio headphone amp warmed up the sound considerably. I also noticed an increase in bass when using Apple sources and think they probably tuned them specifically for Apple devices when designing them.

I poached a mate's iPod Touch (forgot which generation, that thing was 3+ years old), and it sounded more or less the same. Less hissing, but besides that, not much difference IMO. That lack of bass isn't bothering me, as I know I had the same reaction when I moved from my MH1C's to the MA750, and again from the MDR-1A to HD700. Both times, I felt weird about the lack of bass, but after a while, it feels strange the other way around.

Yes, I totally agree! I quickly got used to mine and I have now sold all my other iems. This is as far "up the tree" as I need to go for on the go listening.

eglobalcentral-uk through ebay. Bargain for sure considering the others go for £100 more and that's before shipping/customs.

Thanks for the reply. I had seen those on ebay but read some terrible reviews on that particular company. Its listed as a UK seller but allegedly the stuff comes from China. Did they take ages to arrive and are the headphones definitely lefit? They do some great prices on lots of great kit.

OK, I just got it. Digging the sound signature: somewhat V-shaped but no overblown bass or peaky treble*. Good soundstage for an IEM. Love it!

On the other hand, that hard case is almost impossible to use.

Hi mate, did u get it from DWI? If yes, does it has a unique body? I also wonder will an iphone pair well with this. So tempting to get one :frowning2:

Yep, DWI. It has the unibody. And about an iPhone, it sounds exactly like it would if you were to pair it with a laptop (except with less hiss for the iPhone).

Tks to reply quickly buddy. How do u think about the treble of the 900s? Overall presentation is on the bright or the dark side? I can't stand of dark (or smooth or whatever they call) IEM.

Neither, but if I have to choose one, bright. It's definitely not dark. Don't take my word for it, however, as relative to the rest of my stuff, this is the most 'neutral' headphone/earphone I have. Treble is good, a little sibilant depending on source material (mostly clipped pop songs).

I didn't bother to research anything before buying, just saw the price/buyers/location UK and assumed it so. I received them in 5 days and pretty sure they were sent over seas.

Seem pretty legit to me

If you look on taobao (the Chinese ebay) you will see them at relatively normal prices. If you saw them for $50 it woild confirm they had been faked. This is a good test imo for whether or not a product has been cloned.

I've just seen a great price for these on DWI ($309AUD). I have been reading about lots of counterfeit products around - especially sennheiser products.

Are people confident these are real deal?

Could very well be fake, but I doubt it: DWI specialises in grey imports. That being said, I've never seen fake UE900s, and I was trawling for them for months.

Sorry for being dumb but who are DWI? A Google search just referenced me to government sites for the crime of 'driving whilst impaired' haha.
