Looks like Head-direct.com has the RE700 with the RE400B for $245.  However, I'm confused with one of the images that has some adapter going to  both the headphone out and the USB port. Anybody know what this configuration does?  Then, there's an image of what looks to be a TRRS-->TRS converter cable.  Why is this if the HM700 headphone out is already balanced?  Unless that weird headphone/USB adapter is the balanced configuration, which IMO is a very sloppy implementation.

I believe it is a new adapter meant for TRRS-to-TRS conversion. While some single ended headphone has no problem plugging straight into the balanced headphone-out, other might experience high noise floor. The new adapter is to for those headphone. Another TRRS-TRS cable adapter is probably for RE400B (to use with single ended source).

no hm 802 yet , thats the one i am interested in

I see the 802 on their website actually.

I'm not sure if I'll be going for the 802 at that price. It seems too close to the 901. The HM700 looks strange with the bottom looking like it doesn't really belong. I'm not too sure how good the HM700 is supposed to be however.

I'll just stick with my Android devices and USB audio myself, given the prices.

isnt that intentional? since basically the hm802 is a swapped dac version of the hm901
