Trying out the Tri Clearion tips on the tri i3 pro. Its a very interesting combination together with the kbear limpid pro cable. It changes the sound from warm thick slightly dark to a more DF very mid centric sound. However the characters of the drivers are still very much pressent the bass slam is still very strong but with much reduced decay making for snapier bass. Mids are still thick as if there is a upper bass boost but that only affects vocals and not instruments.

The highs are the ones I'm abit conflicted about, while its very coherent liquid like and has much better extension thanks to the tips it really shows that the I3 pro is a pretty low res with not much ability to do micro detail well.
That being said I dont think its a bad thing being a enjoyment first over chasing down every last detail. Its interesting how the BA actually sounds alot like DD treble with how smooth it is. A very good iem for listening to older questionablely mastered music since it has a very relexing tone that is very suitable for 80s rock, post metal and other chillex style music.
Also it still retains its dynamics so faster stuff like EDM and trashcore are also suitable generes for this iem.

Actually I think with the cable and tip roll it turned it from a specialised iem to a jack of all trades that I can pull out when I want that smoothness instead of all that detail being exposed with the Fiio FD7
Similarly, I absolutely love the Clarion tips. I sold my TRI Starlight to upgrade to the Odin but these tips are great. Especially the massive opening they have, allows all of the IEM sound through while some of the other smaller opening tips seem to cover some. Might be my new favorite tips to be honest.

The Clarions are excellent tips. Congratulations on your acquisition of the Odin.

Is Tri I3 Pro a good buy for ~70 USD used?
For electronic music on the go (mostly gym) + at home.
I think 70 USD for the I3 Pros is good value if they have been cared for well.

Are they good for electronic music? To be honest, I do not listen to much electronic music, so I cannot say. Perhaps someone else would be able to help you on that.

Zeos discovers the TRI I3 Pros. Is it hype or is he telling you what you know about the I3 Pros?

I've had mine for 6 months now and still love them. Akros and Vortex were more on the ball with reviews. HBB and Passion For Sound didn't rate them very highly. Then as usual, the hype trains moved on. Everyone who has a pair seems to rate them highly (read that however you want, I bet sharur hates them:ksc75smile:).

HBB revised his opinion upwards when he revisited them during his Planar Wars series of vids. Really funny to see other forums postulating that perhaps a planar/dynamic hybrid might work, when TRI already had this tribrid out in 2021 (non pro version obviously even earlier). Well worth picking up as long as you don't crave a bright tuning. Usually in sales for way less than it's original $189. :L3000:

I was hoping for a different DD when @WendyLi announced their development team was looking into updating the OG i3. I know in this sub many noted the footprint of the original being a tatertot, but my average sized earholes had no issue with the OG. So I was a bit surprised that the Pro was a shell re-design.

My selfish wants were for a DD that produced a lengthier/syrupy decay. As I would categorize the i3 as having a warm (not neutral/clinical) presentation. Why not embrace the road traveled and complete the journey. Assuming KBear still has the tooling and CAD files for the original i3, what would it take to make an i3 2.0 that would put the current single planar solutions out to pasture ?

I’m not as critical of the I3 Pro, probably because I never heard the original. To my ear the Pro has a nice, warm, analogue sound. I suppose it could be even warmer or include a bit more sparkle on the treble end, but I still really dig it.

hmmm i donno if i want the i3 pro to be any more syrupy. That being said the cohesion of the drivers are really good although that 7k peak is real. There were memes about cymbals being distracting on the tin C2 but this really shows what distracting means when there is a volume spike.

Even then i find it isnt sibilant at all. If anything running the limpid pro cable which is silver shows how well behaved the BA is.

If anything I would say that the I3 pro has more of a ampified concert type of sound. With how thick and warm the sound is.

Also of note is on the AT-BHA100 hybrid tube amp and the ibasso dx300 AMP14 the sound stage gets crazy big so if you find the sound too focused add some tubes to your life.

Headphones poll here: Thread 'The Head-Fi Members' Poll for headphones - 2022' https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-head-fi-members-poll-for-headphones-2022.966400/

The poll closes on the 14th of January 2023.

Thanks for the reminder, I'd completely forgotten about that. But I can't fill it out just yet, as four packages from China appeared on my doorstep from the courier this morning.

Breakfast and coffee first, then the fun begins!

:wink::L3000:

(Note to self: remember to dispose of packaging before Wife gets home this time!)

Of course not, I exhibited heroic levels of restraint... for a while. The DT100 has cleared customs but wasn't in todays haul. :L3000:

Todays haul was Truthear Hexa and Flo Audio Lily plus a NiceHCK C24-2 cable in 2 pin 3.5 SE. The fourth package wasn't audio related. I'm really surprised by how good the Lily sounds, I had ordered it at the tail end of their introductory offer after the DT100 went up to it's regular price. I was curious as to what a single full range BA could do and it was cheaper than KBEAR Neon, GS Audio ST1 or Audiosense DT100. Then they dropped the DT100 down to same price as the AQ0 on sale. The fairies must have hit the buy now button on AE when I was asleep. I think the little bastards added a pixie butt print to the finger print sensor last time they broke into my phone! Hopefully a third IEM with paua shell faceplate will go unnoticed (AQ0 and YST-02 are the other two if anyone's curious). I'll be tip and cable rolling for the rest of the day.:ksc75smile:
