Another year! Planar Magnetic drivers took off, does that mean other drivers did not feature?
It is the time of year for you to vote for your favourite IEMs of 2022.

Rules for Members’ Poll for In Ear Monitors (IEMs) 2022
Voting for Headphones is available on here.

The Poll will begin on the 7th of January 2023. You may start voting for your favourite IEMs at 0.00 GMT on the [Edit] 21st of January 2023.

You may enter a vote by posting your vote in the categories set out below. See specific example of how to vote in post No.4.

By entering your vote, you agree to be bound by these rules. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions below, do not vote.

ELIGIBILITY:
1. Voting is open to all members of Head-Fi on the basis of, one member, one post, listing your votes in the various categories.

SPECIFIC RULES FOR VOTING:
2. The following rules apply to voting on this thread:

2 1. Voting on this thread is limited to voting for In Ear Monitors (IEMs).

2.2. Any eligible Head-Fi member may vote for any IEM which they have heard. All IEMs are eligible to be voted for in this competition regardless of the year in which the IEMs were launched. The cut off point is any IEM on the market as at the 31st December 2022. Any vote for a set of IEMs which comes to market after that date will not be considered a valid vote for the 2022 Poll. Prices referred to in this poll are MSRP prices at the date the IEMs concerned were launched.

2.3.Voting will be a single stage process. There will be no second stage.

2.4 The Poll will be open for a period of one week.

2.5 The price categories have been increased in number following members' suggestions made after last year's poll.

2.6 You may enter any IEM set of your choice in the Driver Configuration/ Price category set out on the thread. Please state the name of the IEMs clearly as the manufacturer has named the IEMs, otherwise your vote may not count.

2.7 Voting will begin from 0.00 GMT on the 7th of January 2023 to 0.00 GMT on the [Edit] 21st of January 2023.

2.8 Votes registered outside the designated voting dates and times will not be counted.

2.9 Final votes will be counted and the winners will be announced within two weeks of the closing date or as soon as practicable after that date.

2.10 Your vote cannot be at the request of a manufacturer of IEMs or any other external influence, it is simply which set of IEMs you believe deserve your vote.

2.11 You may not vote for any financial benefit or benefit of any kind.

2.12 You will be disqualified if you enter or attempt to enter multiple votes.

2.13 You may change any part of your post up to 11.59 GMT on the [Edit] 21st of January 2023. At 0.00 on the 21st of January 2023, the votes as they stand will be recorded and no votes cast after that time will be counted, if they do not appear as recorded.

2.14 You or your vote may be disqualified if, in the view of the Poll Team, you have acted in a manner which will bring the voting process into disrepute.

2.15 Prohibited acts, may include, cheating, hacking, deception, an attempt to undermine a fair voting process, whether that is obstructive, abusive, annoying, threatening behaviour or harassment of an entrant to this process.

2.16 Where there is a dispute, disagreement or other questions to determine in the interest of fairness or efficacy of this process, the Poll Team’s decision will be final.

3.ADDITIONAL RULES:

3 1 This process does not award a prize, it is a process by which members cast a vote for IEMs members of Headfi collectively decide is the best for the year.

3.2 Head-Fi and Poll Team members are not responsible for typographical or other errors in the process of voting, including but not limited to errors in the Rules, selection and announcement of the IEMs which have won each category. We will, nonetheless, correct errors where necessary and if that correction does not cause further confusion or disruption.

3.3 The Poll Team reserves the right to terminate or amend the process, in whole or in part, at any time without notice, if any factor, including, and without limitation, virus, bugs, or non-authorized human intervention, interferes with its conduct or fairness, as contemplated by these rules.

Polls are regularly run in the busy cooler thread

Locking down an informal poll that carries no prizes with many rules and writing in the first person as if this is sanctioned by Jude is, off putting. That is meant constructively. If it is a fun poll then make it (appear) fun, please and remove all the unnecessary ring fencing

Thank you for the constructive comments.

As you are aware, the word "official" does not appear on the thread, as this poll has not been officially commisioned by Head-Fi, and if it were, members of Head-Fi staff would be responsible for it. In any event the phrase used on this thread is, Head-Fi Members' Poll (to denote individuals who are members of Head-Fi.Org) as they are the only ones elegible to vote. My understanding is that copyright on Head-Fi remains with the writer of a post, not the owners of Head-Fi.Org. Thus until such time that Head-Fi choses to organise a poll, we are individually responsible for what we write.

On the question of "fences", you may be aware that fairness is percieved, not necessarily only that which transpires (the facts may appear diffrent depending on where you stand). In a situation where people feel (rightly or wrongly) others are not being fair, they react. Hence the rules, which are intended to ensure that no one feels that another person is, for example, writing a list of IEMs they have not heard or that they have been enticed to list those IEMs for some benefit, whatever that might be. I have not even touched on simple respect for one another, which can go out the window without a "fence" (forgive my mixed metaphors).

Your words: "If it is a fun poll then make it (appear) fun, please and remove all the unnecessary ring fencing". The question of whether a "fence" is necessary can only be determined if there were no "fence". That would also be after the unwanted event. If that hapened, my honest view is that someone else, if not you, would tell us, "you should have had rules". The extent of the sanction, should someone beak the rules, is that that individual's vote will not counted. In my view that sanction is not life or death, so let us see it in that context.

Yes, the intention is fun, so I hope you have fun, irrespective of the "fence. I appreciate the polite manner in which you make your point and I hope I have reciprocated in like manner.

It kind of doesn't make sense given the current pricing, but those is the rules. I paid like $6 for my CRA, so would be a immediate choice in the $10 category, however no idea what the msrp was? Maybe $80??!!!
