TOOL on HDtracks

Interesting. Personally I think the album sounds sensational.

In what format are you listening to it?

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the music...but listening to this album for the 6th time this evening - with headphones on, rather than via bookshelf speakers - I noticed the crackling more. I'm really surprised by it. The first track is fine but from track 2 on, I notice the crackles and it is such a shame if this is representative of the CD itself. "Chocolate Chip Trip" or whatever it's called actually sounds fine too though and is a very cool instrumental. It might even serve as a useful demo track for showing off gear. Maybe I'll suggest this in that specific thread.

FLAC. Could you tell me a track and time where you're hearing crackling? I've noticed a tiny amount of tape hiss in some parts but it's certainly not intrusive.

Btw I've checked the files and the definitely weren't transcoded from a lossy source.

Rip the disc... (sorry I see you are in Aus) edit

I hope the album is available in 96/24 at the very least
If their previous releases are anything to go by, I’m sure they will be. All 5 previous are 24/96 on HDtracks

@CoryGillmore
I just wanted to mention that I love the quote in your signature. :grinning:
Haha thanks it’s my own! It’s not something I’ve ever said it’s just a thought I had when I first got into this hobby lol.

Sure Cory

You are hanging out in an obscure audio forum discussing the tiniest details of an Album

In my best Jerry Springer impression

"Cory you ARE an audiophile" :) :)

Which CDs are you referring to? Salival and Tales From The Darkside are the only CDs I can think of that are worth anything. The original press of Aenima on vinyl is very valuable too
I just sold one of my Salival copies for $450
So I bought two copies of the Deluxe CD and will get hi def download from HD Tracks or Qobuz

I was not too happy with the sound quality of the HD release of a Perfect Circles "Eat the Elephant". It is Only 24/48 and the 16/44 version of The Thirteenth Step (Japanese CD ) blows it away in sound quality. I hope TOOL's Fear will sound much better.

FYI ... A Perfect Circle and Tool share the same lead vocalist , Maynard James Keenan. I don't think he has much input into the SQ though....

I liked ETE as an album but it was mixed really loud though. When that first piano note hits in track one my first thought is always "#$%^" and turn the volume down LMAO

Hell yeah that's awesome dude. I've purchased every Tool album there is except Salival and Tales, don't really care to own Tales and I do have a rip of Salival, one of my fav Tool albums for sure.

Does anyone know when HDtracks usually makes new releases available? I've got my pre-order coming tomorrow but I have to own this release too! Will it be out midnight eastern?

Hell ueah shortly after my post I checked and it was available! Was like 941PM local time! Hell I tried to use some codes from one of these shady sites but not of them worked. Wish I’d seen your post beforehand. Oh well it wasn’t but $18, well worth it!
