With our powers combined, someone is Captain Planet or something.

One would think that by looking at all those graphs, that they sound just alike, but from what I have read, they do not (in some cases quite a bit different). I am still torn between getting the Hook-X and the P1 Max. The only reason for hesitation on which is because I have the OG P1, and don't really find they needed an upgrade IMHO.

Same here, OG P1 is my speed monster and no reason for an upgrade.

But on the other hand, I AM curious too.... I will probably end up with the Hook-X though because they are so different (I don't want to buy the same(ish) sound over and over)... :) Up until now, I hadn't even looked twice at all the re-releases/upgrades (p1+, Pro, P2). But there is something about these that has me curious again.

I have the Timeless, and while I do like them, I have yet to find a set of ortho DD that can match or beat the overall sound I get from the P1. And of course, adding more bass doesn't a new set make to me...

This setup playing Tidal Masters on exclusive mode takes the P1 Max to a whole another level. Via a DAP, I initially thought that its signature is a bit laidback and too flat but being driven properly by the W2-131 on a PC just gave it energy and liveliness with technicalities and 3D soundstage at par with the Timeless.

Glad you are enjoying them! Though, I had thought the Timeless had a pretty intimate soundstaging?!

What DAP were you using that made them sound flat, if you don't mind me asking?

Played the Pandas on my AK SR25 and Sony ZX300 on MrWalkman fw, similar flat signature results (ZX300 actually gave it a more vocal-centric warmth). The SR25 squeezed more details but still lacking energy. Weirdly enough, the W2-131 setup via PC made it more engaging and gave it a lot more breathing room. Was totally a different experience. Perks of trying out different gears.
The Timeless on any of my setups was not intimate, rather front and center stage then with all other elements emphasized to surround it hence just a tad V-shaped.

That is why it is weird to me that these only come with 3.5mm SE option only. Planars benefit from more amperage, and balanced is usually capable of more from the balanced circuit.

Have you heard the OG P1? If so, can you compare these?

Just partially in a store so sadly can't say much of the OG, not memorably good at the time.

Interesting take. He thinks it’s too flat?
Timmy seems to be very much into bright signatures. If he doesn't think it's "Exciting" enough, chances are I won't have problems with it being shouty and sibilant. This one flew under my radar, now I'm interested. It appears it may have better note weight and a slight hint of warmth. Not as much sub-bass as some of the others, but I have several other sets that cover that. :L3000:

Some preliminary EQ settings (from using: https://squig.link/?share=Crinacle_Adjusted_Target,Tin_Hifi_P1_Max) that add a lot of naturalness to the sound. I do recommend trying at least the second.

Crinacle Neutral Target:
Preamp: -3.8 dB
Filter 1: ON PK Fc 3300 Hz Gain 4.0 dB Q 1.800
Filter 2: ON PK Fc 4300 Hz Gain 1.2 dB Q 2.000
Filter 3: ON PK Fc 4600 Hz Gain -1.3 dB Q 1.200
Filter 4: ON PK Fc 6500 Hz Gain 3.5 dB Q 2.000
Filter 5: ON PK Fc 7900 Hz Gain -10.0 dB Q 2.000
Filter 6: ON PK Fc 10000 Hz Gain 2.6 dB Q 2.000
Filter 7: ON PK Fc 15000 Hz Gain 3.6 dB Q 0.500
Filter 8: ON PK Fc 16000 Hz Gain -9.1 dB Q 2.000

Crinacle Adjusted Target:
Preamp: -5.5 dB
Filter 1: ON PK Fc 3700 Hz Gain 3.3 dB Q 2.000 (essential)
Filter 2: ON PK Fc 6700 Hz Gain 4.3 dB Q 2.000 (essential)
Filter 3: ON PK Fc 8100 Hz Gain -10.3 dB Q 2.000 (essential)
Filter 4: ON PK Fc 10000 Hz Gain 8.5 dB Q 2.000 (adjust to preference, new value: 1.2dB for me)
Filter 5: ON PK Fc 20000 Hz Gain 5.5 dB Q 1.600 (optional)

WOW! Is 8K really that boosted on these?

I do highly recommend checking: (Crinacle's EQ tutorial out)
https://squig.link/?share=Crinacle_Adjusted_Target,Tin_Hifi_P1_Max < is the same tool that he mentions but doesn't require subscription
8K is significantly higher than 11 of the 12 target/reviewer preference curves but has very similar energy in the 8K range as the Blessing 2 (which also has elevated frequencies in the 2-6K range so it's not nearly as peaky)
