I am still looking for the “best” solution to use EQ to tune my Tidal hiRes tracks. So far I have tried:

1. Roon EQ on my PC: very good parametric EQ, but I just can’t justify the cost of Roon
2. HiBY Music on my Android DAP. It streams my Tidal tunes in 44.1, and the EQ works, but not as good as Roon.

Any other suggestions?
Peace works great on PC, SoundSource even better on Mac.

I don’t EQ much on any of my DAPs, but the newer “6” and “8” series HiBy ones have systemwide PEQ, MSEB, and heaps of other audio DSP plug-ins to let you go nuts shaping the sound however you like.

Another option on your DAP could be USB Audio Player Pro. It’s got EQ plug ins and you can stream Tidal through it.

I don't think these will work with Tidal.

Sorry but yes you can use Peace on PC, SoundSource on Mac, and UAP Pro on Android to EQ Tidal while you are streaming it.

Again, I don't do much of the latter, but I am right now using Peace on my PC with Tidal streaming, works perfect.

Cool. I think it must be because I use exclusive mode.

I use Audirvana to play back everything, because it is the best sounding player so far by far. I am thrilled to bits that they have included Tidal and Qobuz streaming support for a $10/mo subscription, especially since most streaming software sounds like junk compared to even a not so good local file player, and I don't mean just because it's streaming. I bought the headphone only version of Sonarworks EQ software, and it's systemwide driver gives me ultra-corrected sound for any application. They put microphones with correction profiles in a dummy head's ears, and created EQ profiles of a tonesweep for over 200 models of headphones, so far. If I can use player software that supports plug-ins, which Audirvana does, I can argue that software EQ now has less footprint than any EQ ever has before. If you have not tried the trial version of Sonarworks SoundID, you should. It has been the single upgrade that beats all of the rest for me, ever since. You are free to argue that my original HD 800's also needed it the most, but I just spent $400 to upgrade to the version that will measure my speakers also, so that I can like them also, again. Also, with Sonarworks, I find out why the original HD 800's set off a flurry of post $1k offerings, with everyone trying to figure out how to beat HD 800 at everything besides just frequency response. Apparently, they had to cost over $3k to be able to say that. My next headphone purchase will be another pair of 800's, not even bothering with the slightly improved 800S version, thanks to Sonarworks, as well as the insane amount of money I spent for this big fat high purity copper cable that not only makes them sound huge over stock.
If you somehow don't find that Audirvana is a far better player than the rest, as many somehow don't, (scratches head), you can skip the $10/m and just use the Sonarworks systemwide EQ driver for the not-very-good Tidal default playback app.
I think Sonarworks uses like 100 parametric EQ points for their automatic microphone corrections. You will not beat them by doing it yourself by ear, and your ears have probably never even heard what a perfectly corrected tone sweep sounds like in the first place, anyhow. So, Sonarworks SoundID is the software that can correct your playback better than your own EQ, and it's systemwide virtual device driver will let it works all the time, in all software. Even web-browser videos or video games. With the default Tidal app playing exactly EQ'd output at the same time. Oh, and let's not forget that Hollywood movies are the second best reason for good sound, although reasons all dwindle after music. Not so much Hollywood movies, though, due to their soundtracks, those are still worth getting some better playback gear.

Hey. I don't know if it was just my ears, gear or wishful thinking last night, but it felt like Tidal was slightly more beefy and colourful in it's sound. I know the change from MQA to Flac was a couple of days ago, but is there any chance the changed more codecs or something? I listened to a few tunes that I previously felt were a bit flat, but now shone a bit more. They weren't previously MQA. Was it just my imagination, or does anyone else feel that there has been a slight change?

The change from MQA to FLAC will occur on the 24th of July, not June, which was indeed a couple of days ago.

I don't know why many people mistake the date as being this month, but seen the same thing happen on other threads as well.

Oh man, my ear were obviously starving for good sound yesterday. Thanks!

Will Tidal automatically serve up the FLAC version of MQA tracks saved in my playlists?

If you have an MQA track or album in your Collection – including in playlists – the track will automatically be replaced by the highest quality FLAC version that has been distributed to TIDAL.

The conversion to FLAC has been going on for months. If you check your playlists, you'll probably find tracks that were already converted.

I don’t know if this was mentioned earlier, but the latest update for DAPs makes loading from a cold start quicker than ever before!!

I do turn my daps off from time to time And before the latest update, it would take 20 minutes or more to play a song downloaded library onto your device and now it takes less than a minute

Is there anything like tidal connect? I use my phone connected to DAC that feeds my speakers. So everytime I have to lower the volume or change the song, I have to get up from my chair. Can I login to the same account on two different phones and use one as a controller?

Yes there is: https://tidal.com/connect

I don't know if Tidal Connect supports one phone controlling another, but you can easily check. Open the Tidal app on both phones (connected to the same wifi). On one phone, play something, go to the Now Playing screen, tap on the Connect icon, and see if the other phone is listed.

I would guess that it might not work — Tidal Connect was designed primarily to control streamer devices and smart speakers. There may be ways to achieve what you want using other software, such as screen sharing between phones, or audio software that support UPnP/DLNA.

I think the solution you’re looking for is Roon.

That's a very extreme solution to get remote volume control (I use Roon, btw). It would require spending $150/year (or $15/month) on a Roon subscription, and setting up a computer to run Roon Server (which must be running while listening to music).

There are inexpensive streamers such as WiiM Mini ($90-$100 USD) that support Tidal Connect. You can use it instead of your phone connected to the DAC.
