Tidal Lossless Streaming

They're "standard" because they're "free" and based on ads just like youtube . They have never had any success in getting people to actually pay for that.
Spotify has the largest number of paid subscribers of any service (144 million in 2020). I myself pay for a Spotify family subscription (in addition to Qobuz and Tidal).

If they offer a bit perfect Redbook service for 5 euros I'll be likely to pay for it.
Dude you can't just type whatever random BS comes to your head and expect it to be true. Spotify went from 119 million paid subscribers in 2019 to 155 million at the end of 2020. They're growing like crazy.

Maybe it varies by country. I think everybody where I work has spotify free. I have never met anybody in real life who pays for it. It's also mostly young people who are used to downloading movies etc. they just don't seem to get the idea somebody actually has to pay for this stuff at some point :D

As a general rule, "no one I know..." is never, ever a good start to a sentence when talking about trends on a wider scale. I don't know anyone who listens to Kpop but apparently that stuff's pretty popular.

Are you sure the problem is with Tidal .apk and not with the A&K internal processing?
Because I am using Tidal on both iOS and Android on FiiO M11 and have never ever lost any offline stored album.
I'm very sure it was the downgrade to v2.28 of the .apk that had the unfortunate side effect of wiping all of my offline content.

As I've said previously, it's just downloaded albums that become unavailable for offline use every month at the time my subscription renews. I have to navigate into each one to 'touch' it, as a way of re-validating my subscription or something. Not playlists, they are fine. Doesn't happen on iPhone either..

It's a bug in the Tidal .apk that I wish they would fix.

I am using 2.34.1 on my Fiio M11pro.

My understanding from a previous post is that downloaded albums have to be "opened" every 30 days, whereas downloaded playlists don't need to be "refreshed". Something about agreements with the music companies . Try downloading only playlists to see if you still have problems. This works for me.

Thanks, yeah, playlists do not need to be “refreshed” every 30 days.

BUT, I don’t have this problem on iOS, just the android apk. So I don’t think it’s to do with music licensing, but a bug in the apk version of Tidal.

I decided to try Tidal again after years of not using it. Anyone else having issues with only classical masters being MQA and all others just being high res 88, 96k?

It all depends on what they were actually given. Not everything is gonna be MQA. Leaving aside the whole "audible" question.

Yeah I know mqa is a scam just that they advertise that all masters are mqa. Customer support is blaming me saying I installed the app wrong from the app store.

No, most of what I have saved is MQA and none of it is classical. And as far as I know, there is either Redbook or MQA. I don't see any hires non-MQA.

If thats the case why are only the classical showing and decoding MQA for me?

For one thing the selections vary by region. For another, I don't know what DAC you use and what app and what app settings.

here are examples of some that show mqa and the non classical that doesn't.
