EDIT: Do _not_ flash 0.5b FW in DSD with single AK4497, it looks like it's not for that model, some users reported problems.

I had to rename "sapp.bin" to "app.bin" for it to also flash this file in single ak4497 model. Now it shows the 2 files being flashed and it shows 0.5b.
I noticed the name was different the 1rst time, but I thought it was on purpose not to flash this file in ak4497.
Is this a typo and does it need to be renamed also for ak4499 ?

Before 0.5b FW, if I disconnected the DAC board, the player defaults to display ak4490, but now with 0.5b it defaults to display ak4499.
There is no ak4499 for this microusb board, so I wonder if this FW is for the ak4497 board and what will happen if it's flashed in ak4490 version...on a 2nd thought probably it won't flash in ak4490, maybe they abandoned 4490, 4495 in this 0.5b FW

Renaming "sapp.bin" to "app.bin" also allowed me to update my single 4497 DSD to version 0.5b.
Now I need to charge up my disassembled / modified single 4497 DSD, and update it.

i think this is a modded version, not straight from ZiShan alone. Seems to be a better version of their Dual 4497. Somebody already knew this? Sorry if you guys already discussed about this one.

It's just, for the similar price with the standard Dual 4497, this one is more "DIY friendly".

Ak4490 and ak4495 versions

Are they also better than the dual ak4497 and the ak4499? Why is that?

Hi @DBaldock9 @maxifuny and others who has 4497 and 4499, can you share how these two players differ in sound? I've my 4497 modded to remove the resistor for the unbalanced headphone out (I don't use the balanced output). I'm curious if the 4499 is a worthy upgrade.

I have the Single AK4497 (DSD), and the Dual AK4497 (DSDs) - but I haven't done any critical, controlled listening comparisons.

I can say that, even with the same firmware installed, the Dual AK4497 has more of a tendency to shut down, when starting certain High Res flac tracks.

updated my single AK4497 to 0.5b, weird enough its like im listening from Line Out (LO) lol, the amp module is not working here. i will try to stack it with my existing amp for fun before reverting back to 0.4k

who has 4497 and 4499, can you share how these two players differ in sound?

I would like to say the following. If you compare 4497 and 4499 without turning on turbo mode - they are the same. This means that there is no point in buying 4499 and double 4497 - just buy single 4497.
But. Now we look at the player amplifier. And in 4499 a composite amplifier, as in 4495. It is more versatile and quality.
Actually the best option is 4495. And also unknown revision 4497 from the comment https://www.head-fi.org/threads/the-zishan-dsds-corner.826185/page-184#post-15645186

Although I must admit - I like the sound of my modified 4499 player in turbo mode, but the battery is very quickly discharged. This is inconvenient.

These are the minimum changes that each owner needs to make 4499.

R82 - 82 ohm resistor, and so on. С220-470 - means that you can choose any option, but not less than 220uF 16V

Did you measured any DC voltage offset at R0?
Is it ok that R3 (buf output) is short circuited to ground (when inserting/removing jack or when the relay operates)?
