Any info on the rated power of both SE and balanced out of the Zishan DSD with AK4497?
Will I be able to enjoy music on low impedance earbuds considering the high output impedance of this device (without mods)?

Yes. You can set a low shelf filter, up to 8 peak filters, and a high shelf filter. You can select the frequency peak from 20Hz to 24kHz, and the Q, for each filter.

Hi,

I read your post about the ability to create custom filter files and that is what sold me on picking up the Zishan DSD thanks. :)
I am really enjoying it so far.

I need a bit of help though regarding the file and format. Do I use the exact Rockbox format, or a format that look like the files shipped with the player? The shipped configs files I assume when looking at them are a percentage of 24db plus or minus? Am I missing something? Also how do I do the low shelf filter and or high shelf? TIA

yes, I also wouldn't had purchased it without that feature. however, i'd choose another dap nowadays (would get xduoo x20, rockboxed, probably).

i guess most stock eq configs were made using an old version rockbox. I've used more recent version of eq files and they work ok, so use whichever format.
remember that Q and gain are divided by 10; for example, gain: -43 means -4.3dB, q: 64 means q=6.4 (and this is the highest/sharpest Q you can set in rockbox).

Samples:

stock (ATH CM3.cfg);
# .cfg file created by rockbox 20071215-080116 - http://www.rockbox.org

eq enabled: on
eq precut: 45
eq band 0 cutoff: 60
eq band 1 cutoff: 200
eq band 2 cutoff: 800
eq band 3 cutoff: 4000
eq band 4 cutoff: 12000
eq band 0 q: 7
eq band 1 q: 10
eq band 2 q: 10
eq band 3 q: 10
eq band 4 q: 7
eq band 0 gain: 25
eq band 1 gain: 10
eq band 2 gain: 0
eq band 3 gain: 20
eq band 4 gain: 45

my eq file for KZ ZS6:
# .cfg file created by rockbox e2765fb-160319 - http://www.rockbox.org

eq enabled: on
eq precut: 0
eq low shelf filter: 40, 10, 0
eq peak filter 1: 20, 10, 0
eq peak filter 2: 100, 10, 0
eq peak filter 3: 300, 10, 0
eq peak filter 4: 1200, 10, 0
eq peak filter 5: 3000, 10, 0
eq peak filter 6: 8300, 64, -40
eq peak filter 7: 11300, 45, -90
eq peak filter 8: 14000, 10, 0
eq high shelf filter: 16000, 10, 0

remember to add a precut equivalent to the maximum gain, to avoid unwanted distortion/clipping.

Have the ak4490 and ak4497 version and want to upgrade the opa275's, can you guys help me out here, I am a noob to this, I want to get a muses01 and muses02, it's hard to get original at my location, and only supplier the distributes to my country wants 100 dollars for each chip, I contacted profusion and they are will to ship, turns out I will save on those but will still need to find ad8620 that many recommend for replacing opa275, have any of you guys tried muses 8820 or 8890 in place of opa275? I can get two 8890's two 8820 and 1 muses01 and muses02 for the price of 1 muses02 bought locally, would that be a good upgrade to the opa275?

I want to get a muses01 and muses02
Not available in SOIC, only in DIP8 :frowning2:
muses 8820 or 8890 in place of opa275
I had 8920 in AK4497 based DAC-amp, good midrange, but lacking in details and HF "sparkle" IMO, similar story with 8820.

I'd say better option would be AD823 or AD8620 indeed, OPA1662 is not bad too and will compensate for slightly too articulated bass of AK4497 DSD.

I personally use AD8599 in LPF, but it leans towards V-shaped signature, more detailed, aggressive and in-your-face compared to other opamps mentioned previously.

Under no condition try to desolder and solder in opamps using a soldering iron!
Either get a hot air station on Aliexpress or ask those mobile phone repair guys.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it! Guess I will keep looking around, don't want to order from local distributor (they want $26 for the ad8620arz and I need 4) mouser and Digi key don't ship here and profusion doesn't carry the AD opamps

Nope, wish I could, mouser seems to have everything I want, huge selection and good pricing, but Digikey and mouser won't ship here, I email them both, only people that said they can has been profusion, if I buy locally, 2 muses02, and 4 ad8620 will be $300 and 2 month wait without any guarantee they are original

So how is the muses 8820 or 8920, so far I understand they are not as detailed as ad8620, I did find a couple of ad8066, not sure if they are real though, haven't bought them

Question, what is the last model to look for at the moment, sound quality wise?

Ps. Glad I am not the only one noticing this in DSD files .. if not resampled in PCM obviously.

Speaking of which, sound is in the same league quality-wise, but sound-signatures are subtly different: modded DSD goes just a touch lower, has a touch more aggressive (direct, in-your-face, dynamic) presentation, especially in midrange, Mojo is more laid-back and softer, although it's like 5% difference.

No, they are not (at least 8920 is not), but they have nice intimate soundstage.

I just put AD8066 in DSD, very nice sound, wide soundstage and not too aggressive in HF (some AD opamps have this tendency). I would say it’s on par with 8620 (and 8620 which I have in A, B and dual 8610 variants introduces noticeable noise in my DSD, but probably would not in stock), slightly different presentation which I like.

Don’t forget that it is specified for +/- 12V max and may be damaged by short-circuiting outs to ground if you are considering using it in Z3 as well.

I was consider in the z3 as well, but I had no idea that it would need a different opamp since they all seem to have opa275, I thought I would get them all replaced, so the dsd and z3 have different voltage? Do you know where I can find all that info? I keep looking around but find it hard to figure some of these things out, it doesn't help that there are Soo many variants and I am not a electrician, haha just a sculpture
