Not sure why but I just went back to Jaben to trial out the WS99s and the ES700s for the 3rd time. While the upper mids of the ES700 are sweeter than honey especially at the climax of a song (nearly sends shivers), I feel like the WS99s' additional oomph to the bass region just makes it more fun to listen to as a day-to-day pair of headphones.
That isn't to say the mids are missing at all.. I tried it with non-bass songs and it shines just as gloriously (listen to Yozoh - Nostalgia, or Bruno Mars - When I Was Your Man).
This blend of bass without skimping on my beautiful mids really is my ideal sound signature; the ES700s' tight bass is perhaps a tad too shallow for my complete lacking.
Don't even get me started on the comfort.. The WS99s just blow it out of the lake. The housing of the wires are thicker and more durable looking too.
That's all I can say from my numerous trials of it at the store. I'd love it if I could stay for hours and play around with different songs with it.
