Ok cheers for that Danny,
If however I am looking for a nice portable amp is the best option for both portability and battery life is the C&C BH?
Is there much else out there other than say the FiiO amps?
If it turns out that I a may be needing an amp with my WS99's I thought I might start looking now just in case. Although it may never turn out like that. But what could I look at around the $0-$100 range?

Cheers

As pgnwn mentioned, the ws99's sound awesome out of the C&C BH. It's quite small/portable, and you can't beat the 80 hour battery life. I love the synergy of the clip zip + c&c bh + ws99's. Get your head bobbing ready lol!

I know I'm a noooob...and I start out with the WS99...and have the CKS99's coming. I didn't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to find these babies...so I don't have the ear to know how these compare to anything other than my wireless and my iphone style ear buds.

Thanks to DS and all you head fiers who paved the way for noobs like me.

Does it brighten the highs (c&c bh)?

You're on the right and wise track grasshopper! I'm assuming that the cks99's will sound somewhat similar to the cks1000's, and if so, that's a very good thing. That would mean that you were wise and jumped straight to some pretty high quality aural gizmos with the ws99's and the cks99's (and as you said, without spending very much $$$!). So good for you! Give yourself plenty of time to appreciate them. And later on you can complete the trifecta with the ad900x's, which will give you a completely different and yet awesome aural experience

Wow I just upgraded my Xonar STX headphone op amps to 49990 and these headphones just came alive!  I wanted to listen to the stock op amps for a few hours so i could hear the difference.  I can't wait until these headphones get fully burned in.  Who needs any other headphones?

Well, managed to get the headphones today, took 5 days... FROM JAPAN!
That was bloody quick.
Got them on now. Straight out of my iPod I felt the presence wasn't quite there. Something just felt lacking. However I trust this is just a burn in problem... (I hope i don't have to buy an amp! haha)
Anyway's chucked them on listening through my computer, man the music definitely came alive. No part of the music is out of place, and all I can do is smile. No bloaty bass. No harsh sibilant highs. Loving the mids aswell! Definitely well worth a listen.
Was listening to a bit of dubstep tracks, and boy did they shine!

And then I listened to a remake of Bruno Mar's song, Locked out of Heaven. Loving the bass!

For now, these are great! Just loving them. However I want to love them straight out of my iPod too! Awesome recommendation guys. Can only get better from here!

More comfy by far with the HM5 pads, sound is similar in that its pretty balanced but the Q40's do hit harder in bass dept. better as a portable than the Q40's if that matters.

But you still like the Q40 better?

Quote:
I have the q40's coming soon but can not believe that they have better bass and punch than these. will update when I hear them.

I wouldn't say the Q40's have "better" bass than the ws99, but they have more bass stock, without any bass boost from an amp.

So what's the story with bass boosting the WS99? Can they catch up Q40? ^^ For me the bass quantity of Q40 is perfect. :)

Yes, like it much better.  So much better in fact that I traded away the WS99.

Im pretty sure the ws99 have much better and punchier bass than the Q40's , the ws99 do not distort whatsoever at max volume with 24db bass boost and getting a boost by the fiio e12 its an immense headphone
