Sorry BH is right!  I have the BK in my wish list on amazon somehow.

Idk about the BK, but the BH is quite a lovely match for the WS99. Really opens up the sound and is an awesome super portable amp with crazy battery life. I have to say that the E12 isn't so bad, either, though, if you're going for a really bass heavy sound. Lately I've been listening to almost exclusively trance and progressive and the WS99 with the E12 bass boost is pretty heavenly. The BH/BK would lend itself to a more well rounded listening experience, though.

Ha! You sound like me. I go back and forth between the BH and E12, and the WS99's sound friggin' great through either with them, especially when using the ELE DAC as the source. When I use my rock boxed clip zip though, it's the BH and WS99 all the way (great synergy, and great portability).

What is a good amp/dac combo?  I don't hear much about those, but would be better to not have to carry the ele dac around with the amp.

Ok so I'm realizing that "portable" dac's use usb only, and can't be used without a computer. Is that right...and are there any good amp/dac or just dac's that don't need a computer?

Do you want a DAP? Ie music player + dac + amp all in one? If so, check out the new Fiio X3, X5 or the ibasso DX50.

Good news. Audio-Technica will produce new SOLID BASS headphones: ATH-WS33X and ATH-WS55X. The ATH-WS55X has 53 mm dynamics

The X3 is going to be a great little player/everything. Stronger amp than e17 with the same great WM8740 DAC with a quality player that will play more types if music than any other player and all for $200 or less. Can't beat that!

Thanks,

D

How much of a tangible difference is there between the ELE DAC + E12 in comparison to the BH? I'm aiming for the former, but if the latter is really a league ahead I'll deal with the extended shipping time.

The WS99s sound awesome through either the E12 or the BH (and the ele dac), so you can't go wrong with either. The E12 (v1)'s bass boost adds this visceral amount of low end sub bass, which works very well with the WS99's. But, the BH has a few tricks up it's sleeve. Firstly, the BH itself adds a bit of brightness. Then, the "SF" button does some magic to seemingly open up the soundstage to some extent. And the "LF" button is basically a bass boost, but it's more of a mid-bass boost (I actually don't use it with the WS99's, but I could see others doing so).

You would be happy with either amp. If I had to choose only one for my WS99's though, it would probably be the BH because (a) it costs less; (b) it is smaller and more portable; (c) it pairs well with my clip zip and ws99's and again is much more portable; (d) it also pairs well with my ele dac and ws99's; (e) it has an 80 hour battery life (I have charged it twice since getting it 5 or 6 weeks ago).

If I take my other gear into consideration though, the AD900X pairs very well with the E12, but not so great with the BH. Also, brighter sounding iem's or headphones may sound too bright paired with the ele dac + BH, and might pair better with the ele dac + E12.

Hi again guys,
Loving the WS99's but just had a quick question.
Is it possible to use the microphone cable, and have a Mic and headphones kind of thing straight out of my computer?
As in can I just plug my headphones in the aux port, and have capabilities of using a mic as well as use the headphones?
This isn't working for me though! haha
Is there something else I need to do in my settings or something?

Cheers
