Neither TF10 nor Ety cables are compatible. Westone cables are, and any cables made for CIEMs, whether they're factory stock, or aftermarket, such as Whiplash, Moon Audio, etc.

Hmmm... So basically there is no good, reasonably inexpensive option for a mic-enabled cable since the Westone cable apparently sucks with the iPhone 4? Irritating.

Word from a cable manufacturer was that the mic-enabled cables broke too easily for him to use.

I call BS on that - everyone and their parent has a mic-enabled cable that is usually some rubbery flimsy POS. And I have never had one break.

In fact, I am pretty much planning on just soldering on the cable from one of the cheapies onto some sort of adapter to get one working if no real solution comes up.

I have not. A friend of mine was thinking of ordering one for his 4.Ai and brought it to my attention. They all use the same pins, so I'd think it would work just fine with any westone pin style configuration.

If you're going to do that, you may as well buy a cheap mic adaptor prebuilt for $5 or so.

Far too clumsy, the cable weight ends up pulling on the IEMs too much in general. Plus, then I would have to buy a short cable anyway to keep the length manageable, so spending money on a new cable anyway.

People who suggest buying an inline mic cable extension has obviously never used them before.

Coz nobody likes 6ft of wiring in their pockets. Especially when the mic and control parts are at the lower end of that 6ft.

So I guess the excess cable can just be wrapped around my neck to make a scarf!!!

ever thought of enjoying the music without a phone ?... funnily enough I never use a mobile-phone to listen to music.

the excess wire... ever thought of using a lil rubber-band to keep it all tidy & minimalistic... I guess what I'm saying if a mic is that important to you perhaps another brand of headphone would suit you better.

Customs are done 3 days after impressions arrived in China!

Please let me add that I did pay for rush build, however.

Could a Magnus 1 be "cut down" and used for this application?
