That's a very good point and while thinking about the Storm, the Sus would be my headphone equivalent. I demoed it this year at High-End Munich and I really loved it. It was powered by an ifi amp that (I think) was in the 2-3k price range. Many suggest the Bakoon amp, costing even more than the already expensive Sus... held me back from considering this HP. Btw. I was amazed how comfortable they fit vs. my HE1000v2 Stealth I had back then. Also the sound was very different.

Regarding other amps just sound a little different and not necessarily better is something that also came to my mind on different occasions when comparing DAPs, amps etc. Sometimes I hear no difference, at all. Sometimes with a great pair of HPs or IEMs, they sound just "differently great" to me.

I'm one of those crazies in the Susvara + Storm camp that loved the Bakoon amp too. I recently sold it and got a holo bliss to match my holo spring 3 but I still really love that Bakoon amp and its looks.

That said, I use Storm with DAPs and not so much on my desktop setup mostly because I don't want to extend to a large long cable with an IEM as its kind of awkward.

Coincidentally, I was just in Munich, but now I'm over in Oberkirch in the Black Forest on a business trip, and enjoying my Storm with the Fiio M15S in desktop mode. <3

May be back in Munich area next month, and gotta decide what my traveling IEM buddies will be.

There’s the Fiio M17. Drives everything that you can throw at it and it’s below $2k.

The only issue, it is not as silent as one would want with TOTL IEMs.

What would you guys suggest for an ultimate soundstage/detail retrieval IEM? Assume I don't care about naturallness, intimacy and all that. And only want the ultimate resolution and separation.
Something a cut ahead of Anole VX.

You might want to look at Canpur 622B or wait for 7th Acoustics Asteria.

You might want to look at Canpur 622B or wait for 7th Acoustics Asteria.

I think the 622B has outstanding technique in spite of its warmer sig, but it isn’t that no-compromises, screw-naturalness-and-organicity-for-soundstage-and-detail IEM that OP is looking for. It still tries its best to maintain a balance of both.

I’ll get more into the Asteria on my PAPI 2023 impressions post, but I reckon it’s only somewhere in the middle among the IEMs already mentioned; not at the top.
