Not today Iām enjoying my Saturday with RN6 in ears. Although Iād much rather be outside on a patio enjoying some drinks instead because the weather today in Houston is so nice.
So, out of curiosity, I Googled AuR Audio, found their website, looked at different pages, and see cable rolling being an example of modification that can void their 6-month warranty?
In the same vein, I noted that Vision Ears does not want users to replace the cable unless it is ābrokenā.. Well, I like this stock cable ($50, same cable that comes with FAudio Passion, possibly same one with Aroma iems) a lot, especially its nice tonality matched with Calyx M SE 3.5mm output, but this match is even inferior to U6t+stock 64audio premium cable(199usd)(connected to Calyx M) in terms of resolution and detail retrieval!
I prefer Fir stock cable that comes with Ne4, Kr5 or Turii Ti stock cable matched with VE7. When this cable gets broken, Iām gonna replace stock cable to those

Basically, I do not enjoy RN6 on red or black which I feel are the most complementary sounds to the XE6. I tried silver, and while itās more enjoyable for me I find any of the modules except gold to interfere with vocal positioning too much. With silver black or red I hear female vocals to sit too far back and sound thin, gold pushes them up and fills up the mids more to my liking which helps maintain coherency with the warmer and lifted low mids. So for me RN6 + gold is the way to go, this also is essentially āXE6 liteā but to my ears a bit more generic and favoring an all rounder type sound whereas XE6 on silver would lean towards being a more specialist but higher rewarding set when it matches the track itās playing. I just figured Iād sell XE6 and stick with RN6/gold as itās still giving me the āFiR soundā but opens it up to more of my library.
So essentially for me to keep both IEMs the RN6 would need to be on red or black, but I just flat out do not enjoy it on those modules, and Iāve tried several times. The way I hear the mids doesnāt work for me, it feels like thicker warm low mids and then it goes into thinner recessed upper mids. XE6 did a better job at keeping that lushness throughout the FR to me, so for my ears I find gold module to give me the best of both worlds. this is all paired with HiBy RS8.
Update on the Aune M1P - if I were to review it, at this point at best Iād give it 2/5 and urge serious caution before dropping the ā¬350 or so I did in a leap of faith! I canāt for the life of me get it to sort music in any sort of logical way, nor is there an option to browse by artist or album - and then when I do play an album, it wonāt play in the correct album sequence, scratching my head as to the logic it plays them in, and I even went all old school and renamed tracks to start numerically but that didnāt work either. I plan to try a tag editor over the weekend, but any album Iāve loaded has come from Bandcamp so all have tidy metadata.
Itās get quite warm, and the battery at best is about 6 hours via balanced. Itās fussy about what cards it will or wonāt read, to include point blank refusing to load the card it came with!
Itās gets 2/5 as it does sound excellent, plus I love the slim form factor. Currently not worth the spend, but Iāll persevereā¦
Try this, blank card, one album, copy each track one at a time in the order you want them to play in, wait till track is finished downloading before starting the next one. Choose an album that does not play sequenced the way you want the first time.
That will see if the save order is at work.

Ahh, makes sense. I really enjoy red and gold too, because I use the Xe6 most for OSTs, and Red gives the most "openness" to the sound, and gold is basically a mini Xe6 on black as you said.
I am on 1ZM2 with OTL so maybe these two added the thickness and mids forwardness back across the FR as I don't find the mids being too thin or vocals being distant on red.

Yeah, I canāt quite tell if itās a source thing or what. Iāll definitely be trying the other modules again when I get the 320 Max. I love the openness of the lesser isolating modules but the tone isnāt quite there for me. Maybe the 320 Max will have better synergy with other modules.
I was a member of a message board that had a dislike button. Man, we do not want to go down that path. What happened is people would separate into their warring factions and then downvote wars ensued. It gets really really ugly. I highly recommend against having a downvote feature due to that experience.
The reason I think it happens, especially on political or sports message boards, is that the scoreboard matters in those cases. If someone is getting too much praise, then a cabal will form targeting that person to bring their rating down in favor of their favorite poster. I have seen the worse come out in people. It got the point people would create fake IDs so that they could get more down votes and bring that person down even more. One poster had 2000 posts with 125,000 upvotes and 150,000 downvotes. That is seriously deranged behavior.
The ignore feature is the best one when you find yourself being annoyed by a poster. In fact, head fi has the best ignore function I have ever seen because even messages that are quoted are hidden from view. Other messages boards allow quoted messages to be seen and that defeats the purpose of ignoring someone.

You make an excellent point. I try to use the ignore function as a very last resort, I may need to lean into the feature more.
On the headfi side of things, the FiiO M17 looks great as an office listening station. Anyone who has owned this device, are there any issues a prospective buyer should know before hand?
An interesting discovery about the LPGT Ti that I established after I had purchased recently is that it has 720mW power via single-ended, and less from balanced at 500mW - this increase of power for 3.5mm was part of the Ti limited edition, the OG is 500mW on both. I haven't heard of DAPs where that's the case before, are there any that people know of? - Just curious!
